Sleep Apnea means you stop breathing when you are asleep. These pause are usually short. This is somewhat common, but often undiagnosed. The one drawback is people dont really get good sleep ad they are tired. Obstructive sleep apnea means that the lungs dont use there full potential and one wil take shallow breaths. This is the most common, there nothing you can really do about it but give your daughter all the Love she deserves (im sure you are doing this any way).
one idea, with children anyway, is that they can have enlarged tonsils, this may cause shallow resperations.
Please do not get offended, I only wish to share my opinon: your daughter is unique, and special. Simply, her body works differantly from what is "normal", but to her, her body IS functioning normaly. All you can do is support all of her intrests and give her all the Love every child diserves
I am sure you are great mother by all of the effort and rightfull concrners. not to mention all of the time at the hospitals and bills! I wish to set your mind at ease stressed mom. Your baby is her own individual! this is beautiful!
Sidenote: doctors make money off people who extremely concerned, usually rightfully so too, but the things you can do for your daughter that will benefit her the most (more than medication and diagnostic tests), is Love and Nutrition. Just fill her belly and her mind with the most healthy material you see fit. ADHD has a verry wide criteria, I have seen studys and would NOT recomend ANY medications for children as young as yours is. Also those medications cannot cure anything, it only treats the symptoms, some of those "symptoms" are part of daughters personality and should be embrassed, not surpressed.
I wish you the best, just remeber that doctors dont want to give you all the answers for they may loose money if everybody knew the things they know.
Creatine Kinase, this is an enzyme that is released when muscles/tissues undergo stress. Exercise can cause increased levels, but a damaged heart can also. If your doc dint recomend any further tests you are fine. Your levels are not abnormaly high. If you drink that can be the cause as well. or if your African, they have higher levels.View Thread
You are a cerrier for strepp. most likley, I am a Nurse, just not regestered. So you have a bacterium, Strpococus, which causes the pharyngitis (inflamed pharynx or sore throat). But after the bacteria is through running its infectious course, the bacteria sticks around kind of dormant, and alothough your culture shows gram-pos for the strepp, the bacteria is not causing any infection so your good. There can be a resistance to antibiotics, this is why you have to take the full course of antibiotics, because sometimes you feel better, but still have the bacteria. Bacteria will multiply boom! your sick again. The cool thing is that the body adapts to its enviroment. Nurses and doctor, and people who eat cockroaches have higher immune system than a normal five year old.
So your bacteria, the strepp, is really strong. It has resisted all antibiotics you through into your system and is now apart f you. You can get rid of this, but is verry difficult. Consisting of removing tonsils, and injections...this did not work for you so you are stuck with the bacteria.
But! the good news! you are now kind of immune to the disease, ussually your body will go through that type of stress and balance itself out, now you are a carrier. 10-20% of people are carriers for strepp. You will get symptoms in hightened times of stress, but should not get as sever as the previous symptoms you experianced.
To sum everything up, you are fine (as long as you still dont have the symptoms). I hope this kind of sets you mind at ease, just remember, thehuman body is a miraculous machine, and will do everything it can to protect you.
you had an autoimmune disease (the steriod), which was from the strepp, I beleive they call it rhumatic fever. Anyway your body went through alot of stress, and thats how your body balanced itself out. If you feel fine now, you most likely are.View Thread
I am 20, I have not been sick with a sore throat, or cold of any kind in about two to three years, and I just got a call saying my throat culture was pos. for strep. I had trouble eating sandwich for lunch (ate breakfast fine - 5/16/2013). When I ate the sandwich I had a tingling/burning pain below my ear, above and behind my jaw. First thought was a salivary gland infection. The area became inflamed shortly after I had lunch. I ate the next two meals (dinner and breakfast) and still had the burning sensation and inflamation. strangly breakfast (cereal-honey bunches of oats on 5/17/2013) did not bother me too much. But NaCl and simple CHO bothered me alot worse, (like a bite of candy bar and the ham on the sandwich). I went to the doctor (5/17/2013), a nursing practitioner checked me out and diagnosed me with four things: Pharyngitis, swollen lymph nodes, sore throat, sinusitis. Took a throat culture, and the rapid strep test was neg. I ate Lunch right before the doctor and I stil had pain in my parotid salivary gland region, but I did not care for I was starving and went through some deal of pain eating. I ate dinner later that evening and I tollerated all foods with hardly noticeable to no pain/burning/tingeling sensations. Now two days later the doctor calls and say I am pos. for strep throat...Is this a coinsedence? Am I just a carrier for strep? They perscribed me antibiotics, but could not answer my question on why I could not tollerate certain foods. I do not have anyother sx besides what I went to the doctor for. If I am a strep carrier what can happen from not taking the antibiotics.View Thread
