Thanks for rememebering me, I remembered you also... My son is loving being in the Army... It is in Fort Hood right now with the 1st Cavalry... He is a combat medic... so duh where do you think he would be but on the battlefield.... but doesn't help Mom not worry about her baby.. Most days when I think of him I cry because he is happy and enjoying when he is doing... then days here and there are sad cries worrying about what is going to happen to him.. so I don't cry every day for bad reasons... so that is ok...last week he called home and talked to me for an hour (my son doesn't talk on the phone) and I knew he was scared... at the end of the conversation, he told me how much he loved me and missed... so that made me cry but a good cry... I am so proud of the man that he has become.. I do make sure that I tell him as often as possible that I love him and that I am proud of him... most of our communication is done through texting but at least I have some contact with him on a regular basis...
What is your son planning on doing for his job training?View Thread
Hey... My son went to Army boot camp last June.. and now he is doing his pre-deployment training to go to Afghanistan... so I totally understand your depression.. My son is 20 years old now but I cry every night... I am so proud of him but so scared for him at the same time.. Be strong... He is doing such a wonderful thing as all of our service men and women are doing... Be Proud... make sure you tell him every day how much you love him and how proud you are of him... that is what gets me through every day... GO ARMY!!! we Army moms have to stick together...View Thread
I had a good Mother's Day... My oldest son is in the Army in Fort Hood and this was the first Mother's Day since he joined... So that part was very sad.. At least he is still here in the US, that part I am very grateful for... he send me the most beautiful text Sunday morning, it made me cry (a good cry) and made me realize how grown up he has become in the last 11 months... me and my youngest son worked in the yard which was nice.. just spending time together with my babies is always good...View Thread

I got the best Christmas present ever... My son got to come home for 2 weeks... He joined the Army this year so wasn't sure if he would be about to come home for Christmas, he didn't come home for Thanksgiving... It was so emotional seeing him when he first come home... this next weekend will be very sad when I have to put him on a plane to go back... At least right now he is stateside... It looks like he will be sent to South Korea in the spring... ugh!!! Pray for our Troops all over the world... without our young men and women out there, we would not be the free country that we are today...View Thread
I totally agree... and it being so slow today isn't helping me feel better about facing a major holiday without my oldest son... I guess I should be happy that he is happy... it is just so hard to let go...View Thread
Hey..I understand about him being across the country from you... that part was easy for me but now it is Texas... the good part is now I can talk to him pretty much every day so that helps alot... since during boot camp you get to talk about once a week... just never know when the 5 minutes will be... I carried my cell phone with me 24/7 during boot camp so he could call me at any time... I truly treasured those 5 minute calls... Airborne is tough, lots of running and very intenses physically... Tell your son good luck...
I am very thankful that my son is still stateside for now... I know that eventually he will be overseas... I'm just trying not to think about it right now... he has about 13 more weeks of medic training... my son really wants to go to Italy and I think that would be cool...
My son went to college for a year after high school and then decided to join the Army to see the world... He has grown up so much in the last 5 months, it is truly amazing...View Thread
