About 9 hours ago I suddenly started getting intense and painful urges to make a movement but every time I tried, either nothing would come out or only very small pieces would come out. I took some Dulcolax to try and make it easier. A couple hours later, the urges and pain continued but I started passing small amounts of diarrhea instead of solid stool. But whats strange is I have to strain very hard to even get a tablespoon or two of liquid out (this doesn't make sense because liquid usually comes out so easily without effort). Occasionally, the only thing I can pass are these little whitish globs (which I've noticed in my stool in the past). So 9 hours later I still feel like I need to pass more. For a few hours it seemed like I was running to the bathroom every 10 minutes only to pass a tiny bit or none liquid at all each time. However, the urges to go are becoming less frequent as time passes. But now the pain keeps waking me up so I can't sleep.
What could the explanation be? Could I have a mass blocking my movements? Has anyone experienced this before?View Thread
Does anyone have any suggestions??

I am taking Asacol and Prilosec and will see the GI again the end of March. I started a gluten free diet on Thursday, because I have been so sick. I did a lot of research and needed to try something. I just don't know what this means and what I should be doing? I don't see any other posts that mention this colitis. I have had 10 - 15 loose runny stools daily since the end of September 2011 along with cramping, nausea, fever, fatigue, etc.
Anything someone can help to clarify this would be very much appreciated! Thanks!View Thread
i get more problems when i eat flour based meals, grains and milk products.
Im taking sulfasalazine since it helps with my rheumatoid arthritis as well.
Any advice to help me?
Thanks. I appreciate it.View Thread
I was just wondering if anyone else with ulcerative colitis or crohn's experiences similar symptoms and what they have done about it. My gastroenterologist chalked it up to not taking my meds very well which I corrected and am STILL experiencing this debilitating joint pain!! I am so frustrated. I hope someone can relate.
*I was diagnosed back in 2007 after a few years of symptoms, have had one flare up since (around 6 months ago) and am on sulfasalazine.View Thread
I've read many of the postings on different support groups and am 'confused' about a few points:
Seeds/ nuts - I've always heard, and have seen several folks post that they are a no-no for folks with diverticulitis - then I've heard that new research says they don't have any effect. Which is true?
Dehydration - I've noticed several posting about folks with dehydration so back that thy had to be hospitalized. Sooo did those folks increase their water or fall back into not drinking enough? Or is it because of the diarrhea that they became dehydrated? I typically have constipation not diarrhea.
Sooo my big question is if you were back where I am what would you do differently? What tests are best? What questions should I be asking?
I am having a crash course in both disorderers - or are they deceases? But still have loads to learn!
Thanks for par ays, support and replies!View Thread

My current thought right now is to go down the surgery route bc I'm afraid that if we do the medicine route and even if it appears that I'm doing ok and I get pregnant that I'll end up with a blockage while pregnant anyway. Best case scenario, I'd be on TPN which is bad enough but abdominal surgery while pregnant terrifies me. Especially since I've had blockage pain happen with no warning. Also, the GI thought there was a good chance I'd miscarried this past summer bc of the Crohn's and I'd rather not go through that again....
sooo, it scares the crap out of me but I guess I'm leaning towards surgery.
anyone have any thoughts or advice?

It's been a while since I have posted, between not having my password to my email account, and not being able to log in here because I couldn't get into my email! Figures.
Last time I posted we had just found out I was pregnant, and we are still going strong with that. 32 weeks on monday and we are having a boy. Crohn's has been ok thus far, not great like I was hoping but I'm gaining weight and the baby looks healthy. I have 2 questions for everyone...
1) What do you use on your hemroids if you have them. (mine seem to be getting worse the further along in my pregnancy.)
2) I'm worried that I will pass this on to my child, even though there is no "proof" that this is genetically linked between mother and child. Does anyone have any close family that also had serious bowel issues? For instance, my maternal grandmother had colitis and had a colostomy bag when I was a child.
Any info would be appreciated!

Just wondering if anyone else does anything like accupuncture or chiropractics to help with their joint pain or their digestion issues.View Thread
I've been busy with work and the kids and single life in general. Had a scare this past week and spent the 23rd in the ER for dehydration. Thank God that my blood work showed that my Crohn's is still in check...just had a bad stomach virus and a bad kidney infection. Actually spent my first Christmas in 3 years with my kids and family. It was wonderful:) Hoping that all of you had a wonderful holiday.....think I will actually get to celebrate a New Year! I'm so looking forward to it.
Please everyone....tell me how you are doing! I've missed you all! I guess one of my New Year's resolutions will be to manage my time a little better! You all have always been here for me.....don't want time to get away from me like that again!
Drop me a line and let me know how you are doing.
Not even sure when the last time I wrote on here....but my divorce was final a couple of months ago....enjoying my independence but have also met a very special person. Just going to take it slow and see what happens.
Hope to hear from you soon....
Love always,
