Some people understand, some don't. Like Hannah said we really don't need everyone to understand just the ones that count.
I am one of the luckiest people in the world. My husband bends over backwards to try and make me comfortable. He has seen me doubled over in pain and vomiting for one and a half hours driving to the hospital for one of my incomplete bowel obstructions during my flares.
I really don't know what I would do without him or the people in the forum who have been supportive.
Now I am the one who has to be supportive for him. He was diagnosed with severe heart disease from diabetes and there is nothing they can do about it. He has just turned 60. He has a 100% blockage in the bottome of the LAD artery, 95 % in the middle of the same artery. This artery is called "The Widow Maker" cause if it blocks anymore he will have a quick and easy death. Just keep him in your prayers, we need them, I want him around for alot longer than what I have had him already.
I hope you find peace with your Crohn's.
Take good care

Hi and welcome to our community! The problem with Crohn's and Colitis is that you can never predict when a person is going to have a flare up. Some people go into flare when they eat a specific food, some don't have to do anything. Crohn's and UC rears it's ugly head when ever it darn well pleases.
Hope you find the answers you are seeking.

It is ashame that you wouldn't give the medical profession a try. If it weren't for my doctors I would not be in remission right now from Crohn's. You are really taking your life in your own hands and by the time you will really need a doctor you may not be able to be helped because you are too ill. As far as Miserable is concerned, doctors have kept MOB alive both physically and mentally. Just because MOB still has problems doesn't mean that there is no help. MOB will tell you how long of hospital stays there were with severe dehydration to the point of almost dying. I hope you will take all of your internet information and find a qualified Gastroenterologist and see if they can help you go into remission. I thank God everyday for my doctors and how they have helped me. Hope you find the answers you are seeking. Take good care,View Thread
Have you tried starting light like mashed potatoes and gravy, cream of wheat, grits, oatmeal, jello and pudding? I know it is agravating but you just need to give it a little more time. Why don't you ask the doctor how long he thinks it will be before you feel better to swallow solid food. Hope you feel better soon, Take care soon,View Thread
I had that about 2 years ago. What kind of medication did he put you on? It makes you feel like your throat is closing up and you can't swallow. You need to be on an antifungal medication for up to 14 days. You really need to have this taken care of because it can get worse. If you want to drink Boost as a daily protein you would need at least 4 a day to give you proper nutrition if you are not eating. Another thing you need to do is to brush your teeth twice a day and stay away from mouthwash cause that can destroy you normal bacteria in the mouth. Also with Candida you should stay away from things that are really sugary because that will allow the yeast to grow faster. You can always look up Yeast Infections in WebMD but the thing you need to do first is find a doctor that will give you some medication for this. You can take either a lozenger you suck on several times a day or a pill you can take. The lozenger is a safer medication to take cause the pill is a little hard on your liver. Hope you find some help. Take good care,View Thread
I am so sorry that you are having such problems with your Crohn's. Alot of us have gone through the same thing, some of us worse and some better. Mindy, we can just visualize the happiness in your eyes cause you are feeling so well. Most people hate going to work but we know how you feel and would love to be able to work. So glad that you are taking a "doctor holiday"! I would have answered sooner but am on vacation in New Orleans visiting my daughter, the grandkids and family. Hoping your remission lasts a lifetime! Ali, I am so happy to find out that you are pregnant! I know how much you have wanted this. Congratulations to you and your hubby. Now we will pray that your Crohn's will stay intact and not bother you too, too much. YIPPPEEEEE! Take good care,
ibcash, Congrats on your pregnancy but if this medication is going to cause problems it is within the first 3 months. I really think you would do better with taking your medication so that you can have the health to keep your pregnancy unremarkable. I was a nurse for many years and worked in all of the fields from Well Baby Nursery, NICU to adult ICU. I have spoken to women who have been on these medications and they have delivered without complications. You risk the chance of complications by not being able to control your Crohn's. Weight loss during pregnancy is not good and if you can control Crohn's you will control the amount of absorption in your body so that your child can get the right amount of nutrition in utero. Please rethink your decision, I know you want to be well enough to take care of your children but with uncontrolled Crohn's you know how difficult it will be. Hope you stay well with your baby. (and you can tell me to go away but I just worry about you and your baby I'm not trying to run your life, sorry if it sounds like it) Take good care, JeaneauView Thread
Carol, so sorry for the diagnosis, we all know how rough it can be, but glad that you are clear for cancer and dysplasia. It is really good that you have a GI appointment as quickly as you do. We are always here for you when you need to vent.
