When I was diagnosed, they had done some lab work(not sure what it was now) Also had a CT and a capsule endoscopy. The Barium Swallow w/ lower GI could have detected the Crohn's disease depending on where it was. I've heard lately that more Dr's are going to just doing CT's or capsule endoscopies to diagnose diseases like Crohn's due to the fact that they're less invasive.View Thread

Yuck. Sorry to hear that you had to go through this Peanut. I would be scared outta my wits if I lost eyesight. The worst reaction I've ever had during my infusion was I had shortness of breath with shooting pain down my shoulder once. Other then that I have flu like symptoms for the next few days afterwards. I've been having Remicade since Feb '09. Hopefully they find something that works for you now

Hey Regina,
You know, I never have seen any proof of it. But I've also had problems with GERD for years. I'm bad though and hate taking that medicine, so unless I'm having problems try to just control it with diet.View Thread

Hey, sorry to hear you're feeling so crummy. When I was first diagnosed with Crohn's they put me on endocort and I pretty much just drank ensure. It takes awhile. I want to say I was pretty touchy with what I ate for about 6 months. But everyone is different. I've been on Remicade now for almost 4 years And now my Crohn's is pretty good(for having Crohn's) I work 2 jobs and live a fairly normal life. I still have to be careful, I do a gluten free diet, and you kind of just learn to be in tune with your body. You know what days are ok to eat certain things.. Ice cream is a big one for me. Somedays it's ok, others I get pretty sick off of it. Hope things start to turn around for you

Hey Arbob. Glad to hear the surgery went ok! I agree with Hannah on the surgery being hard on your system and hopefully that's what's causing the issues. Anything that causes stress to the body can mess us up. Anyway. I hope you start feeling better!View Thread

Thanks guys. I was having problems ovulating. I didn't have my period for 3 months and then was really irregular after getting off of the pill. When I was younger they thought I might have endometriosis too, but then I'm not sure if that could have been a Crohn's thing or not. I'm hoping that the clomid works this time around, I'm not a huge fan of the side effects of this medicine. Anyway, I've heard mixed reviews about Crohn's and infertility. Some say it causes problems some say it doesn't. I know for sure if you're flaring it's harder, but I'm not so who knows.
. Well, keep your fingers crossed everyone!View Thread

Crohns, Clomid and Trying to get pregnant
Hey all, Well my husband and I have started the wonderful journey of fertility treatments....

Hey all,
Well my husband and I have started the wonderful journey of fertility treatments. We've been trying to conceive since January, and my Dr felt that with my Crohns I would probably need a little help. I've started this lovely drug called Clomid. I honestly can say that it makes me feel terrible. I'm starting my second round of the med tonight. (You take it for 5 days, days 3-8 of your cycle). So be praying that this is the month that we get pregnant! I've been feeling really good Crohn's-wise. I had one small little flare up right before my Remicade this month- but I think it was due to the stress of my hormones being out of control(I've seriously never been such an emotional mess as when I was on this stuff) So keep me in thought this month
Wondering if anyone else has Crohn's and had to go through this?View Thread

That sounds like a flare up to me. When I have flare ups it's similar to that.. I always have a lot of pain in my back and hips tho, due to arthritis stuff. But I get that urge to go and can't but it's usually due to blockage in my bowel. I get diarrhea for so long then get that other urge, then eventually i start throwing up.View Thread

Hey, I'm not sure if there are any high risk OB's in my area.. If there is, the one I'm going to would be it. I know he has dealt with trickier pregnancies. Laura, I'm starting Clomid- so hopefully I will have the same luck as you
. I've been feeling great lately. I haven't had issues with my Crohns, the only thing I've dealt with is I had C Diff in October this last year. So I figure now is the time to get pregnant. Hopefully I can find some time! haha. Thanks for the advice.. I talked to my GI and they said just to have the OB call them.. So hopefully they'll work it out. It sounds like I'll stay on Remicade throughout the pregnancy though. (hoping I get pregnant!) And I wouldn't mind twins the first time around.. haha. Get it over with right away.View Thread
