If the reponse from the doctors had been I do not have the training for treating patients that are obese or My specialty is such and such but I do know a doctor who specializes in treating obesity. The way the situation has been handled leads one to believe they have no interest in a patients well being only what money can be made. ie the remark at the end i have 2 kids to put through school. The other thing that is offensive is the obvious dislike for obese patients. Health care providers donot judge patients they treat patients. The doctors are letting thier personnel dislikes interfer with treating patients I would never allow any family member to be seen by either one of these doctors since they cannot seperate their personel dislikes to treat the patients. Currently I am obese but that will not be for long. Once they get the level of synthroid where it needs to be -----my thyroid no longer works-----my excess weight will be history. If any doctor is reading this debate I hope you listen. Do onto others as you would have them do onto you. There is also another saying that goes something like this: None are so blind as those that will not see.

I was in the military for 20 years and have had to physically move people and equipment bigger than I was. It's all about the mechanics.

Patients deserve better than to be treated by some one who no longer gives a rat's patute about their health.

You would refuse health care to people who smoke and/or are over weight. I am going to say something I would never consider saying until now. Why should you recieve SSDI? There must be some type of work you can do. I have Parkinsons and I still work. It may take 1 to 2 hours to get my body to move but I still go to work everyday. I may not be able to breathe walking from the car to the building do to heat and humidity but I still go to work. I may be elegible for a handicap placard and early retirement but I still work.
What I said is what others think. I do not think that way. I w ork in health care so I understand why you cannot work. What I was trying to get accross is your idea of no health care is just as wrong as dening(sp) you SSDI

From one over weight person to another. Do not let the superficial people get to you. I know it's hard--it really ticks me off. I believe in karma. What goes around comes around.
You are loved by family and friends. They look beyond your weight.
Lucky for us there are doctors out there that do not go by a persons appearance. I told the endocrinologist that I give up trying to loose weight. He pretended not to hear and started to lay out our next plan of action.
Have you had your thyroid checked.? I ask as my whole family had testing performed after I was diagnosed and all have thyroid problems. They are on treatment and doing fine. I am the only one having problems getting it under control.

Some health care organizations require you to be referred to a specialist by your primary health care provider.

My guess is she is incompetent to practice medicine. She is after the money only with no interest in the patients well being. The patient should be glad she found out the person claiming t be a doctor lacks the necessary knowledge to practice.
What really makes my blood boil is the responses from people judging the patient for being over weight. Before parkinson and a thyroid that does not work i weighed 130 and ran every day or used the treadmill.
currently i am over 200 fighting a uphill battle. people need to remember what my parents taught me. treat others as you would like to be treated.
