Really good point. I was thinking about the bullying topic a few years back and came to a very similar conclusion. People used to say turn the other cheek, but in my turn of being bullied and a bully I learned that the people who turned the other cheek were the ones I went for and when I turned the other cheek they kept coming back. If you turn the other cheek you show that you aren't going to fight back and bullies don't want someone that will fight back, they want somone to degrade.View Thread

I think it has gotten worse, and not that I'm avidly religious, I think it's because God has been taken out of everything. A man pointed this out to me and at first I though he was being a little rediculous, until he explained why he thought this. God and his was used to be the foundation of everything. The constitution was built around christian morals by christian men. God and the bible promote love and acceptance. God used to play a role in schools even.
So at this point we've established that with God comes the idea to live and teach with Love, Kindness, Equality, and Good morals.
Now, society has taken God and religion out of school and work and pretty much out of public period.
So if you take out God, you end up taking out all these kind ways to be. When you take away the kindness you get meanness.
To me it really does make sense, kids these days are so mean and rude and disrespectful. And so many parents say they make their kids behave, but they really don't. And these days God is not advertised or talked about the way he used to be. People were much nicer and more trusting in the days when they lived by God. And still now, The people that you hear about that are "just the sweetest" are usually good christian people. Also, from my experience, Most of the marriages that actually last involve God.
I truly think the man who brought this to my attention is really on to something here.View Thread

I think it should be both. First off, the episode probably isn't as bad as the activists make it seem. The little toddler probably said it during a public function, and THEN got in trouble for it. It was probably just an episode about life, like all tv episodes, and in real life, sometime your kids will embarass you in public by saying things they overheard an adult say. I think both parents and the brocasting companies should watch what they are doing. The companies need to realize that children do really exist, and sometimes they will (whether it be by accident or a careless parent) catch glimpses at things on TV they shouldn't see. But, the parent also has a responsibility to monitor what their kids are watching. They need to be cautious of what shows are appropriate for thier children and the child's age group. I also think that activist groups need to look further into the issue before they start rallying because I bet over half of them hadn't even seen the episode and were just going along with everyone elses opinion.View Thread

I'm starting to notice that stars are naming their kids as if they were horses, i.e. Black Beauty, Blue Ivy, Stormy, Apple, Marzapan, Zuma, etc. If you were a very sheltered child you wouldn't know which was a horses name and which was a star's child's name. Now, my name is unusual too, and I was made fun of in school but it wasnt for my name. Lucky for me I like my name and I have always been told it is a very beautiful too. As for kids getting teased, if it's not their name its their hair, if it's not their hair it's their size, if it's not their size it's their clothes, and so on. Either way they are going to get made fun of for something. In the end it's the child's personality that is going to be the determining factor of how far the teasing goes.View Thread

I think this is a great idea!! There are so many time when i go to describe someone, and I try so hard not to sound like I am just being mean or trying to be hurtful, when really I am just trying to use the correct words to describe them. We can't say words like "stupid" which just means unable to learn, or "ignorant" which means able to learn but you just don't know, etc. If you use replacement words you sound immature and rude, and if you use the proper word you sound like you are trying to be mean, when really you're just trying to describe.View Thread

I have a question, sort of about new topics, but a little off as well. I am trying to figure out how to post my own debate but the only thing I can find is to start a new community. I have read many other people's debates about seeking ex-girlfriend advice, marital advice, or weight loss advice. They are pretty much all pretaining to advice and I wanted to do the same with my own topic but I can't figure out how. The only option I can find is posting my own community, but I didn't want to start a community, I just wanted to start a "debate" in the Talk Show community. How do I go about doing this?View Thread

I would like to state that I was the one who made the pessimist comment, and I apologize that you took it personally, but it was not ment to be personal. I think the point she was trying to make was that your friend wasnt acting in that manner due to santa, he was acting like that because he was, as you said, being a rebellous 16 year old, and that just happened to be the excuse he used.View Thread
