We have a few moderators that share time moderating this community and even though you may have seen Haylen posting I wanted to formally introduce her. She will be moderating the day to day activities and discussions.
Chrissy, Caprice, and I are still here checking in and we all work behind the scenes to keep this community a safe, supportive and informative place to share what's going on in your lives.
So, let's do Two for Tuesday to introduce ourselves to Haylen. Share your two favorite songs, two favorite bands or two favorite artists.
I'll start - Song - Let it Be and anything by Van Morrison, James Taylor or Elton John (I cheated that was not two).
I see your most recent post - can't tell you how sorry I am that your expressions and thoughts were misunderstood by your therapist.
I posted this discussion about putting together a coping plan. Not sure if it will help, but hoping you can find good therapy and put together something. You will have to tell us know if you think writing and journaling can help you get any clarity or purge thoughts so you can move forward.
I am so sorry you are struggling with this and so glad you are reaching out for help. While waiting for others to respond I wanted to pass along the link for our Relationships & Coping Community to connect with more members for advice and support.
Taking action to manage your depression is especially difficult when your depression has become unmanageable and overwhelming.
Do you have a coping plan in place to break a depressive cycle, manage triggers or recognize symptoms when they come creeping in?
Take some time when your depression is managed to write out a plan for coping.
Talk with your doctor or therapist to craft a plan for "When I am feeling ____ or I am doing ____, I need to ________."
Come up with a list of tools for distraction - For example, go for a walk, call a trusted friend, get involved with a project, art, writing, crafting, gardening, etc.
Plan for a crisis - Make a list of names and numbers of those you trust, doctors and health professionals, local and national crisis hotlines. Write instructions for yourself.
Share your ideas for coping and managing triggers. What distraction techniques do you use? How do you reach out for help? What advice do you give to those who are having trouble breaking a depressive cycle?
While waiting for others with similar problems to respond I wanted to pop in to let you know that I am so sorry to hear what you have been experiencing. Hopefully you have talked with your doctor to discuss what you are feeling since the change.
I am glad you have reached out to your family for help and hope you have shared your thoughts with them. Hopefully the psychologist can help sort all this out.
If you feel at any time you are unable to keep yourself safe please call one of the numbers listed on our crisis assistance page.
