My Story:

I am a 60 year old woman who had a major stroke several years ago. My major disabiltity from it is 24/7 migraines which can get severe, especially if I do much in a day. But I know a lot about treatments for them which I want to share with people. I also have right sided weakness, leg pain, difficulty swallowing, kidney failure, high blood pressure, hate to eat and no appetite from the stroke. I also have fibromyalgia, sleep apnea, acid reflux, asthma, myoclonus, osteoporosis, bletharitis, depression, rosecea, high cholesterol and hypothryoid. Did I forget anything--LOL. Married with no children.

I hope that your daughter is getting some medication help as well as the therapy. The major depression and panic disorder certainly warrant it. Not sure what you mean by not knowing what is real and what is not. If you would like more help with that, give more info on that. With borderline personality, I've read that that is their personality which a personality is what someone is. However I've also read where there can be some ways for them to learn to modify their behavior.

My step daughter got many years and years of therapy which only taught her how to manipulate later therapists with all the lingo. One of them finally wrote that he had mistakenly believed her and had been manipulated.

We learned from a great psychologist to only express low emotional affect. That means not to emotionally react to anything, which just separates them from you. But it did turn out to be the only way that we could manage with her. A borderline personality can seem evil according to this psychologist who warned his staff about it in a written document, but to not see the person that way. It's just the way that they are. But there are probably many opinions about it.

Feel free to write more about the specifics that you are dealing with. We had a terrible time with my husband's daughter who then had a child of her own who she abused and ruined. We tried at one point to get custody of our grandchild with the help of my husband's ex-wife, her mother. $40,000 later between his ex-wife and us, we failed to get custody. Now her child has had nothing to do with her mother for the past 2 years and is now 18 years old. She is going about legally changing her name because she is so afraid of her mother trying to find her!!!

Perhaps with you getting help with the actual diagnosis this early, it may be a big help with your relationship with your daughter. With all the therapy that my step daughter had from the age of 13, we never knew what the true diagnoses were until she was in her late 20s. But the field of psychology has advanced since those very early days. I do wish you the best.View Thread
