I can't say I have felt the exact pain that you have, but I can surely sympathize with how you were feeling. When I am depressed I often get that feeling of being completely overwhelmed, to the point where I just want to smash something. I hope that you are feeling better, and the important thing is that it sounds like you have a great family and support system in place.
All the best!View Thread

This is my first time posting, but I've read around quite a bit. I am 19 years old and I have struggled with depression on and off for a long time (probably first realized it around five years ago). As I'm sure all of y'all know there is a lot more to depression than most people think and in many ways we use it as a blanket term to describe our type of mental illness. Anyhow, I just wanted to ask if getting an actual diagnosis is helpful, i.e. clinical depression, bipolar, and so on and so forth.
It seems to me that some therapists are hesitant to give a diagnosis (mine sure is) because they feel that it may limit you or be used as a crutch for continuing to live in a bad situation or make poor choices (I really don't know, those are the only reasons I can think of). I kind of think that you go got to know your enemy so you can take it out. What do y'all think? What is your experience with it?
Thanks!
