you can find the most recent explanation of the procedures for filing complaints with the FDA at http://forums.webmd.com/3/chronic-disease-and-disability-exchange/forum/1010 .
it is accurate as of november 25, 2012, to the best of my knowledge. i welcome, solicit, and indeed beg for corrections, amendments, or replacements of any inaccuracies in that post.

Nothing to do with the fact that Susan is Scottish, I have just be re-looking at this and I believe she must be the most inspirational women in the world, she has fought against the media, the public and the health care profession to ensure she is safe and secure. She has the voice of an angel yet has the same worries and concerns as all of us.
I think she is an amazing ladyView Thread

you may have to start with an entry-level primary-care dr, but if you need counseling or psych meds, you can ask for a referral.
don't try to tackle all of these resources at once; you'll be overwhelmed. check out one or two, see what they say, then check out one or two more.
i hope this helps. if any of these links don't work or are too hard to navigate, please send me a message thru the depression community.

I have been Married for 12 years now and been suffering with depression for about 20yrs. It has gotten worst since I was laid off at work after 11years there. I just feel like nothing I do is right and my self esteem is in the toilet. I am the caregiver for our 15month old daughter and my wife a RN works during the day. I'm going to therapy because I do not want to take medication but it does not seem to be helping me. I feel very depressed and want to feel better but can't. I want to do things in the house and help my wife more but it just drags me down.
My wife gets very irritated and mad at me when i do things wrong and that makes me feel even worst and i guess I internalize these feelings and feel bad about myself.
I get mad at my wife for not understanding me. But I also feel bad for her since the financial burden is on her now.View Thread
NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, a community organization. They foster education, advocacy as well as support for both people with a diagnosis of a MI and family & friends. It also has a database to find available support groups by state. If you can find one near you, awesome, if not there may be groups available run by other orgs. I would call a local crisis line for more info, perhaps they could help.
As a peer, someone with a MI diagnosis, I attend NAMI Connections most weeks. I like to go because everyone there understands. It's run by trained peers, not by doctors or therapists. It's a safe, gentle, respectful chance to check-in with people every week. Even in a deep depression, I try to get there because if I do, then at least I did one thing that week, it cuts down on the isolation a bit, and it's good for me to hear other people stories & how they're doing.
Here's why I love my group. I hope all of you can find a support group (whether NAMI or not) that you can benefit from.
NAMI'S Principles of Support
- We will see the individual first, not the illness.
- We recognize that mental illnesses are medical illnesses that may have environmental triggers.
- We understand that mental illnesses are traumatic events.
- We aim for better coping skills.
- We find strength in sharing experiences.
- We reject stigma and do not tolerate discrimination.
- We won't judge anyone's pain as less than our own.
- We forgive ourselves and reject guilt.
- We embrace humor as healthy.
- We accept we cannot solve all problems.
- We expect a better future in a realistic way.
- We will never give up hope.
