Has been quite a while since I put a post on here but thought I would let everyone know that I am doing good. My last A1C was 5.7. I started exercising and really watching what I eat and I do not even have to take pills....for now. The only "real problem" is my arthritis. And the darn thing is in my neck. Seriously, I have been told that one day that I would have to start the insulin shots but as long as I can do what I am doing now, I can keep it under control. Well, going to finish reading on here to check up on everyone. Have a good day everyone, and don't forget to vote!!View Thread

Ok. I need some help. I stuck a splinter in the bottom of my foot. It went straight in and not at an angle. I think I got it out but I don't know for sure. Hubby looked at it and he couldn't see anything. Now the bottom of my foot is really swollen and sore. It is so sore that I can not put pressure on it I don't see anything in it now. But how can I knoow for sure that the splinter isn't in there and why is it swelling so bad? Can anyone give me any suggestions on what to do. There isn't any way to get touch with a doctor today and it is swollen that I am concernedView Thread

Reading this, I actually thought someone could be "cured". However, my doctor told me that you can not be cured but you can get in under control. I exercise and watch my diet. I have my A1C down to 5.6 and keep my sugar under control. I take one pill every other day. I made up my mind that I wasn't going to end up like my sister and I have, so far, kept my promise to myself. It isn't easy but it can be done. I do "treat" myself occassionaly to something that I really want. Even though I keep treats for the grandkids, I know what the outcome will be if I let myself eat them. Instead, I keep fruit and veggies for me to snack. This is what works for me. Take care.View Thread

Please I need some answers quickly!! I was stung by a hornet on the leg on Wednesday and the swelling was unbearable. I went to the doctor on Thursday and was given a shot of steroid and an antibotic. Well, I was stung again on Friday by another hornet, same leg. And, of course, it started swelling, but not as bad as Wednesday. Friday night I woke up with muscle and joint pain. I called the NurseLink line and talked to a nurse. She told me it could be a delayed reaction to the poison that I would need to talk to my doctor within 24 hours. There isn't any way that you can get in touch with a doctor on the weekend here. So, I have tried to "tough" it out until Monday. But all I want to do is sleep and I feel so bad that it has affected my appetite. I have been eating a little just so it doesn't affect my diabetes. Other than feeling like I have the flu and sleeping, that's the only symptons that I have. Most of the swelling has gone down. The only swelling I have left is on the bottom of my feet. Can anyone please tell me what is going on with my body? Or can anyone tell me what I need to do now? Any help would be so appreciated.View Thread

I did talk to the doctor and he said there was very little protein in my urine. My A1C is 5.9. So I am doing really good. However, hubby's doctor called and we have to be there at 9 this morning. I haven't slept because I am worried about this new development. He said that it looks like hubby can have a stroke at any minute. Talk about stress!!!! Between the chemo that he is taking and now this.....I feel like I am a walking time bomb. I have been trying to take care of all the animals, house work, and hubby. Thank goodn ess for such kind neighbors that mow the yard for me. I don't know what I would do without them. I think that when I have time I will have a nervous breakdown (lmao). Thanks for listening. And thanks for this community that when I need to ask question, vent, or any of the stupid things I say or do that you will listen to me. Thanks everyone.View Thread

I have great news to report. I have worked so hard to get this under control. And I guess all my hard work has done some good. I am only taking 1 actos pill every other night Even though hubby starts chemo Tuesday, I have been sticking to my diet and exercise. I know that after Tuesday, he won't feel like eating, so, I am going to eat less, but going to keep cooking and eat enough to keep me going.

I would like to know if one drug can cause enough problems that your health would be so...

I would like to know if one drug can cause enough problems that your health would be so grreatly affected to the point that you would develop diabetes early? In 2005, I weighed 125 and was not sick at all. They told me my chlosterol was too high and put me on lipitor, 80 mg a day. By the fourth day of taking lipitor, I was literally bedridden. My muscles hurt so bad that I could not walk. I could barely eat. I called the nurse praticioner that prescribed the medication and asked her what was wrong. I was told that it was just in my head and to continue to take my medicine. I continued for another week but I got an appointment with another doctor. When I went to see him, he took me completely off the lipitor and started me on another statin drug. The results have always been the same. After a few days on the statin drug, my muscles hurt so bad that I can not continue to go. They finally put me on Zetia, which is not a statin drug. But ever since then, my health has deteriorated. I started gaining weight and no matter what I have done, I can not lose the weight. I am bipolar, ocd, anxiety and panic disorders. And that isn't all. I have trouble with my liver, thyroid, back, and rls. My joints have deteriorated. I have had to have shots in my hand, hips, and knees. I was told that I have osteoporesis really bad. Plus all the other aches and pain that go along with aging. Then in December of 2010, I was diagonosed with Type 2 Diabetes. My weight has steadly gone up and I have exercised, dieted, just about everything except I have not tried over the counter pills. I was afraid to do that.. Now is there a possibilty that the lipitor caused all of this? Or was I going to be like this anyway? I wish I had some answers. No one can tell me if lipitor would cause any of this. But it sure seems strange that I was not sick at all until I started taking lipitor. Any help would be appreciated because i have researched everywhere that I could think and I have not been successful. Thanks for listening.View Thread
