I play guitar and thus found the test-prick for blood very annoying on my finger tips. Here's the best location I found. In the pic its actually a mm or so higher onto my thumb than I like - and works in either direction left/right of that location. I don't feel it afterwords like I do on a finger tip - so it doesn't bother playing guitar.
Here's a closeup of the needle tracks from recent tests. With this location I can fit 50 per day on the same thumb (I've not dont that many in over 3 years).
In general, bloggers get to post any desired self-correction post. That's good for most anything unless you said something you were embarrassed to share. Those are just over/done/too-late except a mod may help if asked nicely. Good luck if its like that - and if it is just consider that the politicians have all kinds of crazy things said and it's not such a big deal. Like they do - just move on and forget about it and so might everyone else.View Thread
I've often/long felt at-odds with the food-choices provided. When I learned I was type-2 challenged for a while in 2007-8 it became even more obvious than it was in the 1990s when I was a vegetarian. The Thanksgiving/Christmas/Easter tradditional meals feature starchy-vegies like corn and potatoes rather than raw or wok-cooked vegies and stuff like that. So right away HEALTHY menu selections are limited.
That said, all things in moderation including moderation - so indulge for a meal - but get over it and don't thing those leftovers are really that good for you - there's a lot of fat, starch, carbs, and sugar in most of that CRAP. Well sorry not crap if its made with TLC. But like we have to watch we don't give our dog too many treats - killing him with kindness... the same is true of our bodies.View Thread
I'll be more direct. That advice from your Dr could be as helpful as a heart attack. You're right to ask questions, get 2nd opinions, and ULTIMATELY MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS.
Mine was to say NO to the drugs PERIOD, in spite of 3 letters from a Doc which said I'd be dead SOON if I didn't comply by taking the metfomin and BP med.
By then I was already learning to improve my diet and after 6 months had my T2 reversed. Back then it was harder to find out about anyone accomplishing that but there were hings (Burnstein's book) and these days there are many PROVEN (eg: McCulley's DTD book & "program").
Yesterday I was even greatly surprised discussing T2 with a person I know who is a nurse. What shocked me was how she seemed to believe soo deeply that the DRs and her hospital wards were doing all the right things diet-wise, etc.
I think they're making progress - but haven't yet gone to as full/fast of methods as are available and still tend to over-drug rather than optimize health. I did have to laugh though - being the inventor/engineer I am. Like gaining acceptance for a patent or new mathematics concept...

Nicely said Delores. Surely from the Individual, the Dr, the Pharma companies, there is enough opportunity to "blame" but it seems more like "willful ignorance" than anything directly hurtful. There ARE forces that encourage that to continue too - possibly even in the schools and corporate employment settings for Drs/Pharmasitst/etc.
However, there is also a better story for everyone working together - and I for one hope that gets accomplished as these blogs seem to help. It may not be favorable to established businesses/products - but with better health I for one hope that the great resources can reapply their credentials in more and more optimal ways. EG: from "Dr Pusher" to "Dr Good".
After all Drs, pharmacists, and yea even engineers like me have knowledge and skills to contribute - and they SHOULD be able to merge the useful info to benefit everyone. Of course capitalism has its challenges on that level - so thanks for technology/blogs there's hope there too.
BTW, I just saw Forks Over Knives. It was excellent. This video appears like one of the authors? and covers very similar concepts via a slide-show-presentation... it advocates plant-based-diets while pointing out many "hmmmm" things like calcium.
In this context, its worth mentioning the best "crash course" I've seen for those considering their health in a state of crisis. I can only say I've personally implemented part of it to reverse my T2 from a BG average of 350 while reducing over 50 lbs. That's because I was already reading other research like Bernstein to get a similar impression for what to do when I needed too. Also I never felt a need for a "crash course" but more simply an "optimizing course" where I learned my way choice by choice and procrastenated eating or finishing and so-on. YOU CAN DO IT! Here's the best resource I know about so-far (though their blog on FB is IMHO an info-mercial-mess):

It was an interesting muse that cancer = but 1 more manifestation of excessive sugar with inadequate nutrition. Similar to how many toxic chemicals (eg: VOCs) manifest in one of 25 ways according to individual exposure and individual characteristics. (many VOCs in amines break down to Formaldehyde- as in sick building syndrom, etc).
In Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead, Joe Cross reverses an autoimmune related chronic rash (looks like many T2 people get) and also helped someone with migrains and a T2 person who he met on his 60 day fasting journey. IMHO it looks alot like "The DTD Program" by McCulley.View Thread
