Thanks Dave for your reply.
I saw my Doc today and told him about my reaction to the prednisone to which he stated none of them could of been caused by the prednisone. He didn't suggest what may of caused them other than to allude to some viral infection. Don't really know what to think of this other than I can't afford a second opinion and I am reluctant to take a higher dose. Fortunately I won't be working on another set until Feb. so maybe by then my tendonitis will subside.View Thread

It has been a couple of days now since I finished a course of prednisone as treatment for tendonitis. I can't say it was a pleasant experience. The second day my throat and jaw hurt so much I could barely swallow. That subsided in time for a stabbing pain to develope in my sholder that made it difficult to raise my arm for a couple of days. Now the fingers of my left hand hurt to move and there is little difference in my tendonitis. The only good thing I can say is my BG did not really go up which is what sometimes happens with a steroid. I am seeing my Doctor just after Christmas and I am not sure what to say about my low opinion of the prednsione. Any others out there with experience on this matter please fell free to comment. In the meanwhile a merry Christmas to one and all.View Thread

I quit smoking after forty years the day I was diagnosed with type two. Its now 16 months later and I still struggle keeping my blood sugar under control. I can't invision anyway that smoking would cause an improvement but I can say not spending four hundred a month supporting a nicotine habit has made managing my diabetes much easier.View Thread

Thanks Dave.
It will be interesting to see what if any effect it has on me as i have always had a high tolerance for such things. When i was diagnosed Labor Day of last year i was in the ICU for five days as the result of a tick infections. It was only after they began giving me steroids that things got under control. My averge BP is 54 over 100 which is pretty good after forty years of smoking (Quit after getting diagnosed) so it would seem it takes a bit to get me fired up. This darn tendonitis makes it painful to grip anything and since i work with my hands building and painting stuff in theatre, other exercise hasn't been realistic. I do need to get back on the stationary bike though once i start feeling better or work slows down. in the meanwhile thanks again.View Thread

Saw my doctor earlier this week and he upped my dosage of glipizide again in addition to putting me on prednisone for ten days as a treatment for the tendonitis I have recently developed. Supposedly this could cause a rise in my blood sugar and maybe make me a little hyper. Thus far I havn't noticed anything and this morning my morning BG was 131 which is the lowest fasting number i have had in months. I just wonder if anyone else has dealt with prednisone before and what I should watch out for. I Lost the info sheet the Pharmacy gave me with the perscription. Thanks.View Thread

Hello Davedsel57.
I usually test three times a day since starting on glipizide, but I test more often when I am not feeling well. My primary wants me to keep track so as to adjust the dosage. Things have been a little out of kilter since a fall from a ladder at work a while ago.Anyway, my bg was 86 when I retired and 191 when i got up which is much higher than its been since i started the glipizide a month ago.I have read all the reasons for this but little of solutions to high morning numbers. That is to say any that have worked on me thus far. thanks for your responce.View Thread

Today was my best set of numbers since being diagnosed over a year ago. Except for a high bg of 142 this morning my bg remained below a hundred for the following five test between ten this morning and ten tonight. This should be all good but for the fact that I have felt sore all day and my left big toe hurts on the bottom even though there would seem to be nothing there to cause it. Twice I have had a candy bar today because it felt like I had a low comming on because of the glipizide I am taking. However my numbers never dropped below 86 sso who knows is they might of fallen more had I not had the candy. Also, I didn't notice any real change after the snacks. Overall it has been a poor day which I hope to not repeat tomorrow. I wonder if instead of grabbing a snack I should have just waited another hour and then tested again to see if my bg was really headed south. I just know I u was getting unusually anxious which in the past has led to chills. Any suggestions would be welcome.View Thread
