Den it sounds like you are crying WOLF again. Either you want help or you don't - which is it?
From your A1c of 6.8 you are not eating right and not taking your Metformin. You need to be on it if you are going to eat the way you do. Having you car accident was about 2 yrs ago that does not have anything to do with your sugars so please stop talking about it.
Eating the wrong foods, not taking your meds and not exercising can and will cause your sugars to go up not your car. Please go back to see your doctor and get the help you need. We can't change you - you can. DebView Thread
Hi Flutetooter just wanted to let you know I will be stopping the B12 today and going with the shots - the B12 I have is sugar based and is causing my sugars to spike. Doesn't matter when I take it - my sugars spike.
I also starting getting horrific headaches daily since starting it - with the exception of a headache here and there I haven't had daily headaches like this in 6 years or more.View Thread
Thanks but I have to take 1,000mcg daily because I am extremely low thanks to the removal of my colon. Steadily since 2010 my B12 has gone from 645 to below 200. I might have to go to the B12 shots once a month.
My pharmacist says B12 does not raise our sugars but I might not be absorbing it properly and that is why I have the increase in sugars.
This is so frustrating because I have been doing so good with my numbers now this.View Thread
I have searched the web for days and I can't find the correlation, if you are taking Vit. B12, diabetic NOT on diabetes meds how is your sugar numbers?
I had to start taking 1,000mcg daily with a meal and I have noticed my sugars after dinner went from my usual 90-105 to now 165-180. That is with egg beaters, mixed with a tiny red pepper, 1/4 cup Swiss cheese and 1 small 10 gram carb rye toast and a 10oz cup of water - 2 hrs later 179. 3 hrs 145 and 4 hrs later 129.
I eat this same meal on a regular basis before the Vit. B12 and it has always been 90ish 2 hrs later.
Yesterday my meal was the same except I used 1/4 avocado in place of the Swiss cheese - 2 hrs later 169. It took 5 hrs to recover even after drinking many cups of water.
I don't understand how adding a Vit. B12 to my system can mess up my sugars - I know it can if I was on Metformin but I am not.
My doctor suggested I to take it for 2 days in the AM and see what happens then get off it for a few days just to see how my sugars are. I might have to have the shots once a month.
auriga I'll skip the maple leaves. I have to check my food list to see if Kale and swiss chard is on it. I have never had either. If I can have it I'll have to try it and let you know what I think. DebView Thread
Flutetooter, Years ago I was on Crestor for only 6 months and I had gotten muscle cramps all over my body so bad I couldn't breathe, was taken off them for 6 months only to have to go on Lovastatin.
My PCP put me back on it Friday, she said that my numbers were not that high but given my history and family members having heart disease she doesn't want me to take chances, also I am on 1,000mcg of Vit B12, if my B12 doesn't go up in a month I'll be doing shots. My intestines are really messing things up.
I do not eat red meats - as for cheese it has only been Swiss Cheese but I am not going to buy any more after this week. I am not allowed beans on my current food plan so it is more green leaves for me as well.View Thread
Hi Den - keep reading so you can learn about your diabetes.
Den not having a car doesn't make one gain weight. I don't have a car haven't for 2 years now and I haven't gained weight. Eating the wrong food is what makes a person gain weight. Keep walking and riding your bike.
Your left leg has been bothering you for some time haven't you gone to the Dr. for that? As for your eyes when did you have an eye examine? They say if you are diabetic you need to have your eyes looked at once a year, do you do that?View Thread
flutetooter thanks for the sugar 101 site quite interesting. I have bookmarked it.
I do watch my intake very carefully I have to limit my carbs to no more than 25 at any given time I am doing okay with my carbs I think because my A1c is good.
I am guessing a lot of my lipid problems is genetic as it does run in my family at least 4 generations that I know of - heart disease as well that is why I am trying very hard to control this with diet the best way that I can. Thanks for your help, DebView Thread
