WebMD has decided to have all communities be 'self-moderating'. There are no more moderators. In some of the communities I have seen that inappropriate posts are not being deleted. There is a lot of bickering among members. Spam stays on the boards far too long before being deleted. New members are posting with rather radical ideas and trying to convince others that they are right.
WebMD is a public, world-wide site with the communities open to anyone. Without moderation I no longer feel safe posting here. I have enjoyed my time here and learned a great deal. I wish everyone in this community success in managing their health concerns.View Thread

I looked into Nutrisystem and Jenny Craig a few years ago. We currently spend about $400.00 per month for groceries for a family of four adults. That is about the cost for a month of food for one person. And, as Deb said, you still have to go to the grocery store to supplement what is missing.
IMHO, the best way to control our Type 2 Diabetes is to follow a diet that focuses on low-starch vegetables, lean proteins and dairy and some whole grains.
Any program works as long as you are consistent. Remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint. You need to learn healthy habits and change your lifestyle.View Thread

I think you are doing just about all you can for your dad and your parents. A good thing you can do is research Type 2 Diabetes so you can understand what your parents are dealing with. WebMD has an excellent Diabetes Health Center here: http://diabetes.webmd.com/default.htm
While Type 2 Diabetes is a progressive disease, there are actions we can take to slow that progression and even reverse the affects. A healthy diet focusing on low-carbohydrate vegetables, lean meats and dairy and whole grains combined with activity are tools we use in the battle. It is something that many people have a hard time accepting when first diagnosed, so give your dad time to adjust.
I hope your dad can effectively manage his Type 2 Diabetes.View Thread

I checked those communities. Only the assigned experts are replying to posts, which is different from a moderator. The assigned experts are health care professionals with expertise in the field the community supports, whereas the moderators used to keep the communities interesting by posting article, news items, changes at WebMD, and also made sure the community kept its focus and there was no bickering.
It is great that WebMD still has the experts replying, but I still will greatly miss the moderators.View Thread

No, I'm not happy with this either. I feel the moderators added so much and also made the environment feel safer. Inappropriate posts are being deleted if reported, but I've noticed a looser standard with more bickering allowed.
I do not like the "answers" site either.
Not sure if I will continue in the communities. I am sad as I have been a member of WebMD for 10 years. I've seen many changes but this one is definitely not an improvement.View Thread

Out-of-pocket costs for medications are determined by your prescription drug coverage plan. I do not think the state where you live is a factor.View Thread

FYI, you are replying to a post that is several years old with no recent activity until your post. Look at the upper right-hand corner of the post and you will amount of months or years lapsed since it was created.
I'm sure you are aware that 86 is really not too low. If you have symptoms it could just mean your body is used to higher blood glucose levels and is adapting. I think you would benefit by discussing this with your doctor.View Thread

No word back yet from WebMD. I've looked around at some of the other communities and noticed that even posts the moderators made that were pinned to the top of the communities are gone. Maybe they have automated all moderator functions.
I know the communities can exist without human moderators, but I for one still miss them.
Hope you are doing OK.View Thread
