I also noticed some comments on the bottom of his new series of videos (some of which take on Gary Taubes.) But whether he allows negative comments I do not know.
I made a vegan recipe which tastes just like tuna. However, I used one teaspoon of Dulse and 2 tablespoons of dried Kelp in the recipe--and afterwards read the amount of iodine in the stuff which is not actually included in the nutrition label but elsewhere on the box. It is hundreds of times the RDA for iodine. Anyone think I should toss out the Not Tuna?
What do you think of the assertion of McDougall and others that taking vitamins is actually detrimental because the quantities might be such that they could take up more room in the cell and thus block other nutrients necessary for cell health? For some vitamins, it has been shown that taking them, at least in large quantities, provokes the very illness they are said to prevent.
I was never so surprised as I was a couple of years ago when I saw a picture of a recipe from a fancy restaurant in which pomegranate seeds were sprinkled on top of the entree. When I was a kid I only knew this fruit as chinese apples which was how they were sold. I think they cost about 15 cents at the time. the kids who ate them would suck on the seeds to extract the juicy part then spit the hard seed out. I never ate them because I thought it looked terrible to be spitting out the seeds all the time after you had sucked off the sweet pulpy stuff. I wondered how you would delicately spit out seeds in a fancy restaurant. I had no idea you were supposed to eat the hard center along with the sweet pulp.
Now I love them. Just bought the best tasting gigantic pomegranates I ever ate at 2 for 3 dollars.
actually, EG, the guy in the video said his diet was now little protein and lots of fat. He was at one time eating about 250 gms protein per day but improved on a very high fat diet. Which is more or less what H eats I believe. What I don't understand is how you can feel energetic on a high fat diet because supposedly fat causes the blood cells to clump together. I have seen videos of the change in the blood vessels when fat is consumed. The circulation slows down which means the tissues are getting less oxygen (about 20% less). He also does not mention the dehydration on a ketogenic diet.
