I'm certified fitness professional, and my wife is a fashion designer, so I would say I'm very aware of this plus-size phenomenon.
Pamela I read your blog article and I agree completely, that plus size clothes are more "transitional."
I agree plus size need to look good too, it does help with their self-esteem. However, I'm a strong believer that plus sizes should not be permanent sizes for any person. They should encourage you to move down sizes until you are at healthy numbers with respect to body fat percentage, weight-to-height ratio, and other healthy biometrics.
I'm not saying that you need to be less than a size 14 to be healthy, but I am saying that if you are at a size 14 because you have unhealthy habits, then you need to consider your health and transition away from "plus sizes."
On a side note, plus size clothes always cost more and will always cost more for good reason, 60% of production cost is in materials, so I will leave you deduct the rest. From a designers point-of-view (my wife's), its not that they are inconsiderate, but they are trying to be sensible and yet encourage people to stay healthy. Plus size clothes can be unflattering and ugly, but the issue of finding nice clothes should not lie on designers, but rather within yourself to transition to a healthier size.View Thread
