"If you're not losing weight, you need to eat more".
Maybe it works for others, but definitely not for me! The less I eat the likelier I am to lose weight. My metabolism doesn't seem to come to a standstill (it's not very fast anyway) if I eat 900 0r 1000 calories; on the contrary, then I start losing weight slowly.View Thread
Of course any food has the potential to wreck your diet, if you eat so much of it that it pushes your calories over the limit!
Nuts can be "dangerous" in that they are really high in calories, despite being very healthy, so one has to take care to eat just a measured amount. They're definitely not a food fraud as they have many good nutrients, but their calories can turn your diet into a fraud...View Thread
I would hate something like the Jenny Craig diet. It doesn't allow you freedom to choose your own meals - what if I felt like pork, broccoli and red capsicum for dinner, but Jenny has decided tonight is chicken fettucini?
Besides, I'm too fussy for such a diet where someone else determines my food. I don't like pasta, for example, but I like things like miso soup, Alfalfa sprouts , Japanese mushrooms, etc. which are unlikely to feature in her menus. My standard breakfast is boiled egg-whites with vegetables, condiments and herbs, but she will probably want me to eat cereal.
Plus, it must be quite expensive. One can cook your own food (and have the pleasure of browsing the market for fresh stuff) for far less.View Thread
I usually have a few chopped egg-whites for breakfast (2 or 3) that I mix with fresh parsley and cilantro, alfalfa sprouts and maybe a chopped chilli or some baby spinach. I add some fish sauce or Worcestershire sauce for flavouring, and sprinkle Thai spice over it too.
Occasionally I'll have miso soup or yogurt and 1/2 apple for breakfast, or even fruit in jelly and V8 veg juice.
I'm not really a cereal eater.
I never eat out for breakfast, unless I'm travelling and staying in a hotel. Then I'll have salad from the breakfast buffet and get a hard-boiled or poached egg with it.
My unhealthy breakfast is "no breakfast" on some days when I just don't feel like eating breakfast. Luckily those days are now infrequent - I exercise and cannot keep up a decent session without having eaten breakfast.View Thread
