This starts my last day at WebMD and a final farewell note.
I do promise to get a regular member name and stop in from time to time. It won't be Louise--they retire mod names like beloved sports players or something.
The thing that I want to remind you as I head off to a new adventure--YOU are the community, the heart and soul of the community. You each lead every time you post. You welcome, you show empathy, you share views, you share your lives, and those actions make this community truly wonderful.
Be good to one another. Welcome the new members. Be gentle with the overwhelmed. I know. You know. I have said those things a million times. I mean them though.
I flurry about driving the other mods nuts with last minute do and don'ts...like a first time mom leaving her child with a sitter. I keep reminding myself that the communities I tended were never MINE, each just allowed me a part in the community. Communities belong to the members--that's you. Keep this place great for each other, for the new members that come along, and for me to visit.
In the calculator I would put yourself as lightly active. An hour a day isn't considered very active, especially with a desk job. Very active is several hours a day at a very intense level. (Exercise is calculated through the activity level choice.)
How tall are you? How much do you weigh? How old are you? Male or female?
What foods are you eating currently? How many calories did you eat before your weight loss slowed down?View Thread
If you included the exercise when you filled it out-then no, don't add the calories. In fact, even if you didn't don't add the calories until you get a grasp on whether you are losing weight too fast. Use the one given for at least three weeks to see how you are doing--too fast--you need more calories. Too slow--you overestimated the calorie burn with your exercise or general level of activity.View Thread

Your obscure music reference to help me start this post--that makes things easier. You see, this is my last day tending this community. I will be around until the 24th on all of my other communities (except Diabetes). This one gets an early swap though (and is why I had a shadow). Andie starts as the official moderator for this community after today.
This community has gifted me with so much. I love it for the enthusiasm, for the encouragement you offer each other, for the knowledge, experiences, and true heart you share. This community--special in ways that I ramble about in meeting after meeting. I hope you know it and share it for years to come with others.
Take those small steps with this community. You can change your life and you can change others just by showing up here and being you.

ohhhhhhhh That walk one. I have used that one! I don't have a dog...he is too old to walk far...so I can't just walk around the neighborhood. Now that we are down to the shih tzu "it is too embarrassing to walk him around the neighborhood"
Weekends can be a challenge to keep up on our diet. During the week we are on stricter schedules with deadlines, commutes, timed lunch hours, and if you work in an office, limited access to food. But, on the weekends we don't have these limitations and tend to be more lackadaisical in general including our diets. One strategy that our community member, Kakonolady, shared last week was using a food tracking website like SparkPeople to monitor daily calorie and nutritional intake. Food journaling is one of my favorite weekend strategies to help me stay on track. I know if I stay aware of what I'm eating that I can budget in certain foods on my weekend without worry. It also alerts me to any poor choices I hadn't realized I'd been making so I can make changes the next week. What is your favorite weekend strategy to keep you on target?
