The new film Bully is making national headlines. Overweight kids and teens are bullied every day, leaving wounds and scars that effect them the rest of their lives. I often hear about this from my patients, many years after the abuse. We need to figure this mental factor into the equation as adults go forward to help themselves. As well, we need to help kids and teens now in their formative years.
What about YOU? How did bullying affect you in any way, as you coursed through your childhood, adolescence, young adulthood and beyond? How did you cope and how are you coping now?

Log onto the WebMD Food and Fitness Planner and you'll get started on the right foot as you plan for your nutrition and exercise.
Pop a patience pill. Your body has been through a lot with the weight ups and downs associated with pregnancy. You're not going to shed it all overnight.
The goal is not to drop the weight, but to drop it and KEEP IT OFF. you can't do that with fad diets or starving yourself.
Plan on walking briskly every day and simple delicious meals and snacks scattered throughout the day in small feedings. You may be young but you're still 5'0 and therefore you're not going to be eating like Venus Williams. That's why you need to know your cals through the Food and Fitness Planner.
Lifting weight or doing any kind of resistance training is so terribly important to build cal burning muscles and to tone well.
Dropping 30 pounds in 2 months is pushing it. Shedding 2 pounds per week max will be a more reasonable goal, as that is the limit of true fat loss per week in a woman. Anything more is usually water.
Be patient and methodical. You can do this.

I would highly recommend that anyone who has had bariatric surgery work closely with a registered dietitian who is expert with bariatrics. They are invaluable at educating you and keeping you on track. As well, seek counseling to learn how to deal with stress without resorting to compulsive eating. This is key to longterm success.

The tried and true way you note--- ELMM or eat less move more--- is actually being augmented with another M and that is MIND for mind power. Your mind rules all. You cannot eat well and move more if you're not fully mindfully engaged. So important to get our heads screwed on right before launching our plans.
You'll soon see more and more science about how to engage your prefrontal cortex, where the executive function of the mind is centered. By strengthening it, you can rein in impulses, plan, strategize, be creative and stay calm in the midst of a world of temptation and opportunities to go off track. How do you strengthen? Physical activity and meditation. Yep, by taking time every day to do your "mental aerobics" you can actually increase the growth of new brain cells (neurogenesis) and beef up your brain while whittling away at your middle. Great mind-body teamwork.
Skip fads. And do the Mind Mouth Muscle template. Keep it simple, as you have said Haylen. Thanks for your thoughts!

Headaches are common as people wean off highly caffeinated beverages. They also occur when you've been normally eating high fat/high sugar and then suddenly and dramatically drop those products.
Eating too few cals can precipitate headaches.
To avoid these issues, eat enough cals, balance with healthy fats, carb and fat, get enough sleep, watch out for stress that drains energy and causes headaches, and integrate your physical activity every day.

The solution is to do two things: fidget a lot while you're sitting and cannot get up--- move your legs and feet, hands and arms. You can sit on an AB ball and keep torquing your body around as you work. Some people have walking desks with a treadmill attached so that you can walk 2MPH all day long. You can buy a foot board for under your desk to flex your feet and lower legs. Grab elastic tubing and stretch here and there. When you're talking on the phone use a head set and walk while you're talking.
Next, schedule times to get up and move around deliberately. I make a rule of never sitting more than 30-45 mins, getting up and walking around somewhere, stretching and even running in place. There are small steppers you can buy--- step and push down like an elliptical. They're fun and terrific to use. Finally, crank up some music and simply take a dance break. There's nothing healthier and more fun.
Finally, there are all kinds of great chair exercises. Go online and you'll see them, in addition to our WebMD fitness archives. As well, even Zumba has Sentao, fun chair work standing and sitting, to hot wild music.
In summary, you need to be taking an ADULT RECESS as often as you can.

Fitness: Every day, in addition to your brisk walking, please assume the vertical as much as you can. Increase your activities of daily living throughout the day, in addition to adding in stretching and movement time every hour you have to sit for work. This keeps you healthy and keeps stoking your metabolism all day long.
Nutrition: Hey, where's lunch? Never skip a meal and try not to load calories at dinner time since your activity level at night is so much lower. You need to spread your calories throughout the day. The fat calls are coming primarily from the cheeses you eat throughout the day. Don't get too bent out of shape because you're over by 4 grams of fat. Healthy fat is actually satisfying and keeps your appetite checked. Instead, concentrate on spreading your calories more evenly throughout the day with breakfast, lunch, mid afternoon snack and dinner. Smaller feedings throughout the day. You can cut back on some of the cheese to keep in line with your daily allotment.

Think back to what made you successful in the first place. You got organized and you had a plan that you executed. You need to do that again. I'd recommend your logging onto WebMD's Food and Fitness Planner so that you can get a game plan going and also have a place to be accountable, monitoring and logging in your information as you go along. That's so important to stay on track. Of course you have this exchange board to share and gather even more support.
Your energy problem is both physical and mental. After having been out of commission for a while, you're used to a more sedentary lifestyle. Don't wait for inspiration. Seek perspiration! Simply get up and start to walk every day. At your weight, you'll be burning lots of calories while enjoying the fresh air outdoors. Keep it simple so that you can repeat your habits every day. Sure, go use the pool as well for cross training. But walking is the most effective means for maintaining good muscles and burning calories. And it's so easy to do. Exercise bikes are only good if they have a back support for your back issues. Recumbent bikes do that. Again, walking is good for you and your back will feel much better as you shed more weight relieving it of the weight burden it currently bears.
You can do this. Many people in similar circumstances have. Believe you can and you will. Your mind rules here. You deserve a life of greater mobility, less pain and much more joy. You can do this.
