I found a couple of neat websites that offer information about hotel and local fitness resources that will help you decide whether this place can offer you great options, or if you should book somewhere else.
HotelGymReview.com is a new site that's building up its database. People share their experiences and these are reviewed, ranked and posted. It's easy to navigate and reminds me of an Angie's List for Hotel Gyms.
AthleticMindedTraveler.com is very cool. It is more comprehensive and offers resources for healthy eating, gearing up, working out and even has a "Go Play" option for folks looking to sightsee and engage in fun from dance to hiking. Pretty cool!
I recently stumbled across this site when looking for information related to digestive issues and beans. It's a really interesting site, that is scientifically-based yet lays information out in a way that the common person can understand. It has a range of topics, from health benefits of blueberries to what drink is the healthiest on an airplane (it's tea!). A site I would highly recommend! Alongside WebMD, of course!View Thread
I have a terrific resource for people who are physically active, especially outdoors. If you were to run into trouble (e.g. an accident--- you fall and sustain an injury; someone hits you while riding your bike or running/walking, you're older and have chest pains) someone needs to know your name and your emergency contact information. I thought about this while training for my first triathlons. What would happen if I had a problem in the water or the road whether I'm in my neighborhood or miles away? Then, I thought what if something were to happen at the gym or the park? So, I heard about this inexpensive way to help me feel more secure. It's called Road ID. It was originally meant for outdoor athletes but I have found it's great for everyone. I bought a couple of these and prefer the wrist version, although there are ankle and knee options as well. There is a customized engraved plate that's easy to read. Mine is a simple screaming yellow velcro strap with my name, my hubby's name and phone as well as my BFF's as a back up. Then you can even add a line of inspiration to power you through a challenging workout. I wear mine whenever I workout. It's waterproof and keeps me feeling secure that if, heaven forbid, something were to happen to me, people would know who to call. I think this is a really valuable resource and the only one out there. I would highly recommend everyone scope this out. Dr. PeekeView Thread
Over the past year I have lost 42 lbs. I have not tried to lose weight it is just happening. I have gone to 5 doctors and no one can tell me why. I have had all the blood test, upper GI, colonscopy, endoscopy, cancer tests and nothing shows up. I have gone from 130 lbs to 88 lbs. Does anyone out there have an answer? or can direct me to a Dr that may have treated this? Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.View Thread
