Agree! No pills required! Don't get sucked into that rabbit hole!
Agree with the food groups! I take it one step further and for my "lean protein," I'm vegan, so I have beans, lentils, quinoa, hemp protein powder, nuts, and other vegan protein powders as my protein source.
Agree! Cut out all processed food and sugar! The fat WILL melt away as it did for me. It went away slooowly for me, so be patient, don't give up, eat healthfully, don't worry too much about the scale, just go on living your life...and it WILL happen.View Thread
Drink 8-13 cups of liquids a day (water, 100% juice, broth in soups all count). Staying hydrated boosts metabolism.
Make sure you are eating ENOUGH. You are working out a lot and burning tons of calories. If your body isn't getting enough, it can automatically hold onto weight because it goes into survival mode. Check out an online calorie calculator to see how many calories you should be consuming for your current activity level to maintain your weight...THEN subtract up to 500 calories.
When you say "binge," like, how much? The whole carton? The whole pizza? Yes, that can be a problem if it's a lot. One or two slices and a cup of ice cream every once in a while? That's probably not hurting your weight loss...but it's not healthy for you! So yes, find other healthy snacks to replace those with!View Thread
It might be GERD...or it might be because your jaw is tight. Do you clench your teeth? Sleep on your stomach? Grind your teeth at night? Are you stressed out? I have problems with my neck and jaw (pain and tightness), and sometimes chewing can be tough--sometimes I bite my cheek or tongue, more often than other people!
Check out books from your local library on relieving jaw tightness...I just checked one out last month...I have it right here...it's called "The TMJ Healing Plan" by Cynthia Peterson, PT It helped a lot! Good luck to you, too!View Thread
Trick your mind by changing the way you think...instead of being tempted by foods and saying, "Oh gosh, I can't have that," say, "I DON'T want that." The latter is more empowering.
Then list the reasons why you don't want it...Examples: It's high in saturated fat, and too much can lead to heart disease; it's high in sugar and sugar makes me break out; I'll feel lethargic afterwards; I don't need it; it's not the healthy kind of food I want in my diet; etc!"View Thread
Neither a high protein diet nor a low carb diet is better. Think of everything as a gimmick. Except these gimmicks related to "diet" can be dangerous!
Eat real food. Mostly plants. Agree with brunosbud...slowly cut out junk and processed foods. Don't stock them in your house. Replace junk food with healthy alternatives: nuts, seeds, almond milk, and fruits and veggies that you enjoy.View Thread
There are a couple things that could be going on. One, you mentioned it above, maybe you're not eating enough, so your metabolism has slowed quite a bit, which makes it harder to lose weight. And two, since I don't know your weight, maybe you are at a great weight and 15 lbs more is not what your body wants to do, it's saying, "I'm happy and I look fine at this weight!" View Thread
By you posing the question, I think you know the answer...yes, in my opinion, you can very well easily fall down the rabbit hole into an eating disorder.
900 calories a day is NOT ENOUGH! Please eat more. 900 calories a day for ANYONE is unhealthy, damaging to the body, and unrealistic. You need to consume MORE calories than your resting metabolic rate, and based on your weight and height, your resting metabolic rate is probably around 1400 to 1500. That means that you need to consume that many calories per day just for basic bodily functions like your central nervous system, digestive system, maintaining core body temperature, etc! You are doing your body a disservice. You are not giving it the fuel it needs to funtion properly. You'll start to feel lethargic, your heart, brain, lungs, liver, kidneys will strain itself just to keep you alive, your hair might begin to fall out, you'll feel cold all the time when no one else does. You are not getting enough nutrients at 900 calories a day! You'll start to get sick easily, and you'll become deficient in vitamins and minerals. Are you scared? I hope so! My hope is that you'll be scared into EATING!
I think you need to scratch dieting for now. Find out how many calories you need to MAINTAIN your current weight. Consume that amount of calories! Please! Better yet, don't count calories for a while. Go by how you feel when you eat...listen to your body when it tells you it's full. Think back to a time when we humans didn't know about calories as a unit of energy, when we just ate real food and stopped when we were full.
What you are doing right now is damaging your body. Instead of focusing on calories, focus on eating whole, unprocessed, nutritious foods! Make cooking healthy meals your obsession!View Thread
