My NYs resolution is to log my food/exercise into WebMD daily. This last month I experimented a bit (picked a bad month to experiment, just before Christmas) and didn't log my food daily....result = + 5 lbs.
The old format had your saved favourite foods on the right side of the screen and that it so easy to "click and drag" any favourite to the appropriate meal.. I'm not happy with that change at all. The way to add food is a lot more clicks of the mouse.View Thread
Yes the first few weeks will be challenging as you change your eating behaviour. That's really what this is all about in my opinion.
Try to read a lot of the great articles and tips found here on WebMD. Also, from my experience, those cravings to eat came on when I was idle (can be described as grazing behaviour). I found just doing something for a couple of minutes would help those feelings pass. Get up sweep the floor, clean something, arrange your books.
Don't despair, after a couple of weeks you'll notice a change.
I joke with my friends that this journey is like being "born again". But really, you have wake up everyday and reminder yourself of your goal ("pray"). Educate yourself with the words of the wise (WebMD will become your bible). Spread the word of the diet. Tell people you are dieting and tell them your goal.. this helps hold you accountable. You'll feel so proud when after 2 wks and then 2 months, people tell you "you look like you lost some weight! You'll then be able to share your knowledge with others and encourage them.
Thanksfor tip and encouragement. Exercise is still what I'd call moderate... Wii Fit on the weekends(really), brisk 3/4hr walk 4 times/wk amd just started some circuit training with light weights. No fancy club just in basement. I'll look up those sprouts.View Thread
Today was a great day I broke through the 220lb barrier but I also had first day where I felt tired, bit of a head ache. Felt better by early afternoon. Can't wait to hit my goal and switch to maintenance mode.
Want to share some thoughts on dieting with you all.
Favourite new food......Greek yogurt Favourite new feeling - having to tighten my belt where wearing pants that I had not worn is many months. Worst feeling....my daily apple is have some unpleasant room clearing side effects, if you know what I mean.
Keep up the good exercise habits and the rest will come! Read all the good articles on WebMD. Immerse yourself in food/diet related information. Internalize and visualize yourself a lighter and healthier person. I sympathize with you....too much eating is a habit that I had acquired too (I love to eat) and am trying to break it. Have to look at our habits..binge snacking comfort food etc. It is a mental challenge every day. It's mind over matter. I kicked the nicotine had years ago, but only after I truly committed to free myself, not be another victim of "big tobacco" and cut I off their income stream from my wallet to their shareholders. I said that's it. I'm nicotine free for over 25yrs now. I have the same conviction now!
