I aim for not more than 1/2 lb a week, I can't even manage 1lb a week. Sometimes even 1/4lb a week. Not that I've been losing anything lately!
You will have to look what you can learn from your pattern of losing and gaining - what do you do in the weeks when you gain back the pound, vs the weeks when you lose a pound, and how can you improve on the "gaining weeks"?View Thread
Congratulations, and thanks for the good tips. Your perseverance definitely paid off. I especially like your advice on thinking before we eat, and finding distractions - very true!
I think eating meat can be healthy though, as long as you don't fry it and eat lean cuts. I mainly grill my meat (lean parts like fillet steak) , and the calorie count is relatively low. Portion size is crucial of course.
Red meat is an excellent source of protein and other minerals and vitamins.View Thread
Instead of normal dressing I just use 1 tablespoon of vinegar, salt black pepper, chilli flakes and other herbs; or sometimes a bit of soy sauce, or Thai spice.
I vary the veg I add: bean sprouts, other mixed sprouts, radishes, peppers, beans, tomato, cucumber, onions (different types), chopped asparagus, chilli peppers, celery, red cabbage, green cabbage, grated raw beetroot, grated sweet potato, etc.
I try to make it as colourful as possible.
For a main course salad I add a tablespoon or two of fish or shrimps, or beans, crumbled low-fat feta or chopped egg for protein.View Thread
