My schedule had to change due to work. Apparently when you're a salary employee, which I am, you don't get breaks but an hour for lunch. Well I can't do my walk/running using those breaks any more unless I take it off my lunch break. I don't want to do that because I still want to go to the gym during lunch. Also there have been some problems on the school bus with my children to where they don't need to be riding the bus. They both go to school 10 miles in separate directions. I am now getting up at 4am so I can talk my run or walk because I don't want to give it up. Also so I can leave the house by 6:50am in order to get the kids to school on time. The evenings are too crazy for me do my exercise then and my legs probably couldn't handle an end of the day work out. I was just letting you guys know that I don't give up and to put some inspiration out there for you.View Thread

I finally have my depression under control though the help of medication. Also, my sleep is much more regulated now. Yay!
Lastly, tomorrow is my last day of classes. By this time next week, I will be OFFICIALLY done with college. Woo hoo!
And so onward I go. I had a physical at my new doctor's office last week and went and got blood drawn today. So I suppose that I will find out those results in a week or two.
So as of last Tuesday, my starting weight is 198. I am 5 foot 6 inches. My goal weight is somewhere in the 130-150 range. I'll see more of where I want to be when I get closer to it.View Thread

What kind of toaster oven do you have , I did some shopping online but some of them have negative feedback so I was wondering what would be the best brand to purchase . I really think a back up is a good theing to have.

I'm bad with names and remembering who posted what, but I appreciate the tips and replies regarding an extra freezer. I've thought about second-hand, and that is probaby the way I will go, although I hesitate about possibly getting saddled with one that is on the fritz or something. I guess I would have to know WHY someone is getting rid of one and hope they speak honestly. But it sounds reasonable to start there.
They are usually pretty sturdy things. I'm headed to my PCP's appointment this morning. I have my laundry list of items to discuss. Hoping he ups his game and partners with me more with what I need in a doctor. Scared to find out what lab results will be, but that will be in a followup appt anyway. Anyhow, it's good to stay honest with yourself about health, and the labs will probably just reinforce my need for this healthier path I'm seeking.
Was emailing my sister last night and jokingly told her I needed some anti-beeeeotch pills 'cuz everyone is annoying me, and she agreed! Well, THAT just annoyed me. LOL! I'm already planning on going back on some OTC progesterone cream, which helped with symptoms of menopause in the past, inlcuding irritability, so will try to pick some up soon. My therapist is really up on all sorts of supplement types of things natural/herbal, and I do trust his opinion about that stuff.
Have a great day, everyone.View Thread

In an earlier post, i said that i was not brave enough to go to a dancing class because i would like to build up my seof esteam first. Well, last night, one of my best frineds and i went to a Zumba Class! IT WAS A BLAST! And we are going again tonight

I am very excited to find out what works for me. I have been attempting to lose weight for about two years now and keep giving up only weeks into it. But i think this time, i am going to stick to it and be fit in no time!!
Just in the past 2 weeks, i have stopped drinking soda, eating at my desk (other than seeds and nuts), Stopped eating processed foods, i have taken the stair (3 floors) at work ever day 4 times a day and i have started a dance class. I dont think i have felt this good about my self in a very long time!
I also want to thank you all for being such insperation!! I think being part of
this community has honestly truely helped!!

Baby steps, to a healthy lifestyle change. When you change your thoughts you will then change your weight. Getting healthy is about progress, not perfection.
Today I am focusing on good news. My back and leg pain is greatly reduced to three out of ten. That is down from a high of eight to ten out of ten last winter after re-injury from intense tennis sessions with my teen.
Today I am proud to say that I am walking regularly about one and a half miles most days. That is up from zero miles last winter. Yay me!
How is everyone else's exercise routine going?
Have a great day all!

Onto the good- I really have cut the processed stuff out of my planned meals. Also having oatmeal/ fruit in the evening seems to be helping as I didn't eat anything else at night this weekend. That was a problem for my first couple weekends doing this. To date, I have lost 15lbs.
I know it won't go on like this. It'll eventually taper off to 1-2 lbs a week I am sure, especially since I am not hungry at all. But I am really looking forward to getting under the 300lb mark. Sometimes I can't stand that number. Finally, I have noticed that with taking care of myself on the inside, it does transfer to taking care of myself on the outside. I seem to have more pride in my appearance since starting this. Thanks for listening. RachaelView ThreadSW 325 CW 309.2 Short term goal-299 Goal weight- 140

At some point, I want a puppy. I've always wanted to raise a puppy but never have. Yes, I know, people always look at me like I'm nuts for wanting to put myself through the hassle, but I love dogs and I've just wanted to do that. Also, I work from home, so that's a plus.
Boxers have been high on my list, and, of course, I've read about them, but was just wondering about your perspective, if you don't mind. I could never pay for a purebred, so, more than likely, I will end up with a mix anyway, but I would still like to hear your story.
I have other dogs on my list, and I sort of shied away from the Boxer type because they are supposed to be kinda high energy, and I don't know if I can deal with that. Anyway, was just curious. If I get a puppy in the next couple of years, it has to be something with a little more laid-back personality than my current dog, but at the same time I really want a little more of a guard dog-type.
I had a Rottweiler once that was so laid-back that my cat could walk by him and slap him on the face (she was so jealous of him) and he would just try to stay out of her way or turn his head if he saw her coming. It was so comical because he was way bigger than her. BUT, when I walked him I felt pretty safe because he LOOKED the part, ha. You really just never know how a puppy will turn out, I suppose, but at least if I aimed towards certain breeds I have a better chance of getting what I want, ha. I would own a whole pack of dogs if I could afford it!View Thread
