I don't ever get thirsty - ever. I usually only drink when I need the caffeine. Growing up we were VERY poor and we didn't have running water so I learned at a very early age to not drink a lot because there really wasn't a lot to drink. I think that messed with my thirst (and hunger) mechanisms. I know this is why I became a dietitian - food was such a central part of my life early on - because there never was any. This is probably why I love to cook so much now.
Well - that fluid intake is what upset him. The 7 mile run with the 3 mile walk on Sunday - the GI bug on Monday - and the speedwork on Tuesday - along with that fluid intake - makes him think it was an electrolyte imbalance that caused heart issues.View Thread

They are thinking it was caused by dehydration. The doctor about had a heart attack himself when I told him what I drink in a normal day. They did an EKG - came back fine - and are running a lot of blood work. He said he wants me drinkng 10-12 8oz glasses of water a day!!! Man - I really don't think I can drink all that but I will try.

Exercise: None - ugh
Pedometer reading : 6594 steps
Intake:
Diet pepsi
Large salad (2 cups lettuce, 1c fresh mushrooms, 1/4 cup egg whites, 2T ranch, a small amount of croutons)
1 chicken wing
1 small meatball
1 slice banana bread (no butter or anything - just the slice of bread)
1/4 orange (what my kids didn't finish at snack time)
1 1/2 cup homemade garlic herb mac and cheese.
It just hit me that I really didn't drink a lot yesterday - I need to really work on my water intake!!! I made a vegetable with dinner - I just didn't eat it since I had that large salad and I was afraid the spinach with dinner would really make the IBS go nuts!View Thread

It did help here. My husband is one of those people that when he gets upset he stops eating - so he doesn't get why I hit the mac n cheese or the chips when something really upsets me. It really did help - as does putting my food log on here.
I am so proud of my husband - he is working hard to give us a better life! We are broke - but not poor (ie - we pay all our bills on time and have money for what we NEED - there is just never anything extra!). Sometimes I feel guilty for quitting one one of my jobs - especially when I have to tell my kids I can't buy them something - but they are just things. Having a happy mommy is probably more important! I hope when Nick graduates there will be a job that will appreciate him more than the one he has!View Thread

BTW - I am so glad for this group and thankful I am doing this - because I can say that if I weren't reporting every bite to you than I probably would have went nuts at the buffet! I had the thought when I went back after the salad of , "You know - you are going to have to post to the world what you ate today so really think about what you get on this plate!"View Thread
