So glad to be here. Just wanted to give you guys a quick introduction. I'm Kourtne, I'm from America born and raised but live in London. My husband is from here and we have 2 wonderful boys(19 months and 6 weeks). I have been over weight all my life but when I met my husband I gained my love weight(lol) and reached 210. After 2 kids I am now at 196 and hoping to get to my ideal weight of 130-140. I have been on diets and worked out all my life(in high school I would play tennis 3 hours a day, go jogging and everything and I was still over weight at 160 but still had a fit body) I just ate wayyy too much(being out numbered by very athletic boys who eat loads but never gained a pound urgh!). Now, I am so ready to get the body that I never had! Its exciting yet so overwhelming! I'm on here for accountability purposes so I stay motivated to continue with my fitness workout. Anyways I hope to get to know you guys! Good Luck!View Thread
I loovvvee to eat and I was the type of person who would get grumpy if I miss a meal haha. Even though my fitness level was great I was still over weight b/c of my constant eating. Thankfully I broke that habit and even though I still have my moments, I will never go back to where I use to be.
So how and when did you realize the binge eating has to stop and stop for good? Here's mine:
I had my first son in July of 2010. I was my biggest weight ever and didn't show any signs of stopping. I would pray to God to make something in me happen so I can stop all this eating! One day I ate a fatty meal and I got what I thought was heart burn. Day by day it got worse and worse until I was throwing up and constantly being sent to the emergency room. No one knew what was wrong with me but I eventually became severely dehydrated(b/c I couldn't eat or drink anything!) and Jaundice. When I got admitted to the hospital they found out I had gall stones in my gall bladder and one was stuck in a tube that connects my gall bladder to my stomach. It got so bad, my gall bladder was infected and so was my liver causing the jaundice. Right then was a wake up call. Within only a couple of weeks of my illness I went from 210 to 186. I didn't get my gall bladder taken out(I did research and I refused to get it taken out of me) but I realize I CAN go without eating loads of food and I'm not going to starve to death! So from that day forth I just stopped eating so much. I know it may sound simple but its so naturally to me. Now that I experienced real starvation I can experience what it feels like to be full. No matter how hungry I am I can not overeat(unless you have one of those days where the food it sooooo good you can't stop lol).
No I'm not saying you should go on a food fast but to me it was:
1.) a spiritual journey unique to me and 2.) IF YOU DON'T STOP YOURSELF FROM BINGE EATING MORE THEN LIKELY YOUR BODY WILL.
Rather that's gall stones, diabetes etc. Food with come back and bite you in the butt!View Thread
Laura you are healthy don't make eating sweets and fatty foods every now and then think your not. Just do things in moderation and don't deprive yourself of those sugary, salty, refined carbs. If you do, you will only set yourself up for over eating. Its okay as long as it's every now and then. Good Luck and your doing great! I hope I can get to your size!View Thread
I just wanted to add to the stair climbing tip b/c I love doing it. I live in a flat so when the weather is really bad(like today its snowing) or I'm too lazy to go out I can just go out on my door step and get a great cardio workout!
If your a 200lb person walking up stairs for 20 mins you lose about 242 calories and 726 after an hour. Compared to normal walking at mph 3 you will only burn 76 calories in 20 mins!(remember the more you weigh the more calories you burn!)
It also becomes a full body workout. You mainly workout your glutes, thighs and calves but you still get a great ab and arm work out.
You can do this anywhere there are stairs and its cheap too!
My 30min workout: 5 mins walking up stairs and 1 min running up stairs. alternate until you reach 30 mins
Warning: Do not run down stairs you would put 7 times more impact on your body if you do.
Also, if you have bad knees this may not be a good exercise for you.
