My Story:

I live in a hot place (Southern Arizona) and used to live up in the Pacific NorthWet. I had to give up my home and 99% of my possessions to do that but at this point I have very few regrets. A few months of being hungry and homeless really teaches you what is important in life. I've had my 'nest' burned out from under me more than once but like the phoenix (or the Mary Ellen Carter), have risen up again each time with the help of friends and family.

At one point I was a pilot and may be again someday. I draw and paint and write when I find enough time. I love to read. I also do silly things like free online games. I'm very serious about championing the cause of liberty for all human beings, as well as overturning a lot of old and bad ideas about the proper diet to eat.

I have a life-partner who is very special to me as well as a very sweet cat. Her picture is on my profile.

My vehicle for my journey to health is the Primal lifestyle, aka the Paleo Diet. I use a modified version of it. My main guidelines are: no grains of any kind, limited dairy (yogurt and hard cheeses), little to no preservatives, no high fructose corn syrup, little to no white sugar. I also limit my starches but eat lots of fruits and veggies and lean protein such as chicken breast or tuna. Lots of nuts and seeds too, one of my staples is unsalted roasted sunflower seeds. Sliced apples with nut butter is good too! I've found that since starting this lifestyle my energy has doubled, my bodily pain has reduced, my mental clarity has even improved, and I rarely have blood sugar crashes. I am building muscle faster and losing fat as well. I wouldn't go back on a bet!

Lately, I have been taking most of my empty calorie budget and using it to buy art materials. It feels good to finally be getting back to what I used to enjoy so much, and begin improving again instead of just coasting. It's my firm belief that if you are going to change your lifestyle, you have to replace bad habits with good ones, and that can mean revisiting hobbies you used to love, or passions you've always meant to pursue, but never had the time. The extra energy you get as a result of eating better will help with that.
