I've attempted to respond to this several times. I just can't seem to find the right words without unintentionally stepping on some toes. My position/opinion on our society is often taken the wrong way when I try to express my thoughts. So, I'll suffice it to say that my family is going to be "weird". We are making some choices in how our children are raised that do not conform with society's. It makes my heart ACHE that my children will be marked as "weird" because they are polite and respectful and care about others. When did those qualities become weird in our society?! Maybe not weird, per se, but definitely unexpected and unfortunately sometimes unappreciated and even mocked.
I must remember that our family's goal is not to fit in, though. Acquiring toys and wealth in this world is not our goal. It will be a struggle, for sure, but will be worth it in the end...View Thread

I had the problem with my husband wanting convenience foods, too. He works weird hours and many times misses regular meal times. I bought some different types of tupperware containers and started packing up cooked meals for him. There is always a supply in the fridge and freezer. I found that he didn't really care what he ate, as long as it was quick! Maybe that could be a solution for you, too. Just pack up leftovers conveniently so that they are just as easy as packaged foods to eat! Also, just make sure that other foods are ready, too, like fruits and veggies already washed and cut up. I know my husband is a lot more likely to snack on something healthy if all the "work" is done for him

I had another bad week/weekend celebrating my boys' birthdays. I had some things I don't usually have in the house (for good reason!). I was very proud of myself yesterday. I was craving something sweet (and no wonder, after all the sweets I indulged in over the weekend...the cravings tend to overflow into the week). Anyway, I remembered there was 3/4 of a tub of frosting left over in the fridge. I began thinking about what I could spread it on...or should I just eat it straight from the tub?! So, I went out, took it from the fridge, and threw it in the trash! I then made sure to cover it with other trash so I didn't see it hanging out in there all day!
Just keep practicing saying it. It will become automatic eventually (but will it EVER be easy?! I don't think so!)View Thread

I kept running back to meet more class members and run them to the finish. One of the fears of some members was finishing last. I told them I GUARANTEED them they would not come in last...I made sure I was the last to cross! Here are a couple pics. This first is a group picture. The second was the best part of the day. Our last member coming into the finish line. A group came out to meet her and run the rest of the way in. It was so cool to hear all the cheering for her!

That was a good guess, Judy
But I'm actually standing in the back row, fourth from the right in the red! In the running photo, I'm on the left (still in the red!). I've got a handful of people willing to move onto 10K training. We're starting this week!View Thread

I haven't lifted weights for a couple of weeks. I have continued to run, so that's good. I ate really bad. I have no excuses. Some emotional eating, some reverting to old habits, so caving to cravings. I've been craving lots of sweets and carbs for some reason. And we all know, once you give in, the cravings get worse! Some days, I ate a disgusting amount of food.
I finally got back on track today. I was afraid to step on the scale, but I did. I'm happy to say that I haven't done too much damage, probably because I at least continued to run. Man, oh, man do I feel awful though. Physically, mentally, emotionally. I hate when I get this way
It's happened several times over the last year and a half. BUT, I always get back on track, usually with even more fervor. Soooo...here we go again! On a side note, I sold my treadmill today. It's a little bittersweet because it's the "treadmill that started it all"
I haven't used it in forever and actually have somewhat of a hate for it. If it wasn't such a nuisance just sitting there taking up space, I'd keep it around for kind of a trophy! But it's doing me no good, and it can do someone else good, so off it goes!View Thread
It could have saved you a lot of trouble...plus, you'd get a cake with rainbow sprinkles, like us!
(I hope the cake turns out to her liking, at least...)View Thread

I've been back on the wagon for a week now. They've even let me hold the reins again
So, I've stopped the wagon for a mintue to let everyone catch up. Jump back on! Here we GOOOOO!Thanks for the compliment, Kim! I am still teaching my class. In fact, this is our last week, and THIS Saturday is our "graduation" 5K race! Words cannot describe how excited I am for everyone! It's extra special because we're running the race that I ran last year as my first race ever.
One of our discussion questions this week was, "How has 'Run for God' affected your life?" The answers and discussions were amazing. There was lots of crying and laughing and everything in between. It's going to be an emotional week and race for sure! I'll post pictures after the race!View Thread

We really had fun at the party! The food was wonderful; I believe it was Lebanese. I discovered I like stuffed grape leaves! (I think mainly because they taste like wine...yum!)There were lots of important local figures there, lots of fancy dresses...lots of money! For once, though, I didn't feel self-concious or out of place. In the past, it seemed like no matter how much I dressed up, I still felt frumpy, out of place, like I didn't belong or deserve to be with everyone else at the party. It's great to have confidence and self-esteem now! Anyway, here it is!
