I donate blood all the time - at least 2-3 times a year. (Well, usually they ask me to do plasma and blood because of my rarer blood type, but pretty much same deal).
Roh's description is pretty good. You go in and will go through all of the questions - they'll ask you about sexual history and medical history and also some things related to travel. After that (or before, depending on how they do it) they will need to take your pulse, temperature, and blood pressure. Also, they will need to prick a finger to get some blood to test for...iron levels I think. Or anemia. Something like that.
Then you have the actual process of giving blood. Generally they will let you choose the arm you want them to use. The needle hurts a little going in, but after that it shouldn't hurt at all. I'm pretty slow at donating - it usually takes me 40 minutes to an hour once I've started the actual donation process. My husband is super quick and can be done in 20 to 30 minutes. You can tell them that this is your first time - I've ALWAYS had super friendly people - so hopefully the area you are in will too. View Thread
It's like you KNOW, Judy. I need to go shopping today
It rained last night and is supposed to be rainy the rest of the week.
168.8 weigh in this morning. I had an English muffin, an egg, a slice of cheese, and a slice of turkey bacon.
I think lunch is going to be soup today, as I didn't bring anything with me.
Dinner will be either leftovers or a salad. I'll see what I feel up to doing when I get home.
Shelby tore down our back fence that separates our yard and the alley yesterday. And now that it's going to be rainy all week, we won't be able to get started on the new one for a while. It's a good thing that my dogs will stay in our yard. They are pretty good pups. View Thread
Breakfast was...well...this is bad, but a glass of whole milk with chocolate syrup and a cherry jolly rancher. Nothing sounded good this morning. I did grab a small handful of walnuts, so I have that to eat if I ever do get hungry. Lunch I have a frozen hamburger, but I cut up some pickles and tomatoes this morning to go with it.
It's nice and sunny today - but it's supposed to rain here tonight and then for the next two days.View Thread
Weight this morning was 169.5. Breakfast was a chicken biscuit from chic-fil-a (provided by work).
Lunch is going to be...late. My little brother's graduation is at 3...so either I can pick something up on the way there or eat afterwards.
My relatives are in town now - they all got in last night. Grandma, Aunt, and Uncle are staying at my parent's house and my brother is staying at my house. I'll probably have a pretty busy weekend.
We had a LOT of hail last night in our rainstorm. On the way out the door this morning, noticed that my strawberry plants looked pretty shredded . I haven't looked at my garden or fruit trees yet. I'll have to take a look when I get home from the graduation.View Thread
Breakfast for me was cinnamon toast crunch and whole milk. I was really tired when I got up this morning and just chose something easy. My dog, Pepper, was up early barking at a squirrel in our backyard.
I have some walnuts for a snack and I'm having soup for lunch.
I just found out that my older brother is coming into town on Thursday and will be here for about a week and a half - my little brother is graduating from college and my little sister is graduating from high school, so he's going to be here for that. Plus, my Grandma and my Aunt and Uncle from Minnesota are driving in and will be here for a week and a half as well. So it'll be pretty busy for me starting this weekend with all of our family in town!View Thread
