It's a gorgeous day here, a little chilly, but nice nonetheless. I'm working but will be done before dark, and I'll be doing my usual mowing. After today I'll be all caught up for the moment! Love it when both front and back yards look decent, ha. Of course, then there is edging, weeding, holly bush trimming, and I haven't even planted any flowers yet. (STILL waiting on my tax refund. I legally changed my whole name last year, and apparently that gummed up the works. Sigh.)
Hope everyone enjoys their day!View Thread

I was very proud of him today because I've been training him to move off the road and sit when a car goes by, and today he actually sat once without my saying, "sit!," so I think it's sinking in.
I make him heel and follow me outside a door, and only get on furniture when invited, etc., because if I give him an inch he takes a mile and forgets I'm the alpha. I've learned that consistency is very key with him. I love him to pieces, but he is my last "small" dog. I want something bigger some day.
According to the Dog Whisperer, it's supposedly more stressful to dogs to be the pack leader and be out in front so they end up more keyed up, and for Jack I can see where that has been true. Like crating him when I'm gone. That's his safe zone, and he got into stuff when I used to leave him loose in the house. I think he was more stressed to be out and about in the house. I guess he could have just been bored, but he is always glued to my side, so I think he stresses, and the crate is better for him.
Guess that's enough about that, LOL.View Thread

I don't remember where I mentioned that I would walk the dog today, but I did. We walked 30 mins, and I forgot my cane, but I did okay.

Here is what came to my mind as I read that article:
"The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV).
I try to keep in mind something my counselor told my once, "It does not matter what anyone else thinks; it only matters what God thinks."
I try to remember those 2 things because I have pretty poor self-esteem, partly related to my "outward appearance" and being a TARGET my entire childhood AND adulthood.
That CEO is very small-minded. As you mentioned, whose to say that many people are shopping for presents for others? Hello!?
Ya, I could be hurt by his words, but they really have no affect on me. Like that woman in the letter said, food addiction/being overweight isn't something we can hide - it's out there for the whole world to judge us by and comment on. Sometimes I used to WISH I had a "hidden" addiction instead, like alcohol, but then again my oldest sister died at 37 partly from an alcohol addiction, so probably not a good "wish."
I don't know this man. I've never once shopped on line or in person or from one of their catalogs. He doesn't really exist in my world. There are all sorts of hateful people out there; he just happened to open his mouth about it. I just shrug my shoulders and move on.....
OH! that reminds me of something a high school teacher once said in class, "You can keep your mouth shut and let people think you are a fool, or you can open your mouth and remove all doubt." Yep, I think that about sums up my opinion of that guy, LOL.View Thread
