Great tip! There's nothing like postponing instant gratification in ALL areas of life. Sometimes it will keep us from making even bigger mistakes, such as buying the wrong car, house, etc.
What I also do is to rationalize the calories. i.e. my housekeeper offered me a Godiva chocolate with caramel center with 220 calories....yikes! I was like it would take me 30 minutes on the elliptical at 5 mph to burn that one chocolate off......no thanks!View Thread
I love that saying..."nothing tastes as good as being skinny feels", I have a friend that is having a hard time with self-indulgence no matter what I say to her so I am going to text that to her so that she can use it as her mantra! thanksView Thread
Notes on progress or trouble spots: I'm ashamed to say that since vacation, I haven't been to the gym once. I am not going to make any excuses. I am just thankful that I am still losing weight even though it would be much faster if I worked out!
Goals for the Upcoming Week: Get back on my workout plan of 3-4 days in the gym.View Thread
Notes on progress or trouble spots: I started trying to run on the treadmill this week. It was exhausting, but I felt great.
Goals for the Upcoming Week: try to workout everyday this week leading up to my mini-break to Jamaica on Thursday. Make time to workout on vacation and come back at least 1 lb lighter by Sunday.View Thread
I am in FL, so we have a nice selection year round from citrus to tropical fruits. This winter was harsh though so the prices have gone up. Easter afternoon we planted a row of fruit trees in the backyard. The majority of them have blossoms and young fruit, so if all goes well, we will have a small harvest in a couple of months.View Thread
Okay, I just have to share this huge milestone with everyone......my wedding ring fits again! I haven't been able to get it on my finger without lotioning up my hand and forcing it on my finger since I was 6 months pregnant. My son is 4 months old now and it finally fits again! It has been sitting in my jewelry case for months now, but I decided to try it on yesterday as we were getting dressed for Easter Service and it slid right on and fit snug enough to where it didn't spin. Yippeeeeee
Now the next big milestone will be when I am able to get it sized down some......look out Jared's here I come!View Thread
I am not sure if everyone already knows, but yes, you can eat McDonalds. They sell just the plain lightly seasoned 6 oz grilled chicken breasts already sliced, hot and ready on a bed of lettuce for $1.30. Only 120 calories. You can also get a 20 calorie side salad for $1.00. The chicken breast is seasoned and tender so I use the juices from the chicken as my salad dressing. I ask for a small empty cup with my order, dump the salad in the cup, add the chicken breast on top, stir it up well and have lunch on the run while I drive to my next showing.View Thread
At approx. 3.5 to 4 mph (with interval bursts up to 7 mph) it takes me 51 minutes to achieve 3.5 miles now and 530 calories lost. I used to own an elliptical but for some reason I found it very stiff on my knees so I go to the fitness center in my community to use their lifestyles equipment.
If you are using yours for an hour a day, the average speed you are going will be the amount of miles you did. Ex. If you are pedaling at 4mph for 1 solid hour then you did 4 miles.View Thread
