My Story:
I am a wife and mother, 59, who works for her self-employed husband. At 229 pounds, I am 99 lbs. overweight and have been for 20 years. In fact, at my heaviest, 265, I joined Weight Watchers and lost 56 lbs. Then I dropped it when my husband complained about the cost. I stabilized at 230-240 and have stayed there for 10 years. I am really proud of that. But in that 10 years, i was diagnosed with sleep apnea, spinal stenosis, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and breast cancer. It was hard to lose weight when I was younger-what will it be like now?
I have GERD and a tendency to fatty liver as well as chronic pain. I am a mess, physically. Spiritually, I am in great shape-a fully devoted follower of Christ with a vibrant faith community at church and loads of friends there. Reading the Lord's word daily strengthens me as I fight to resist my sinful desires to mistreat this body which belongs to Him.
