The best thing that I found for my persistant constipation was adding 250mg of Magnesium 2 times a day along with 2 stool softeners 2 times a day. My GI said that it was great if it helped. I have a problem with Miralax it takes too much of it to even move me one day much less daily. You can always adjust the Magnesium and the stool softeners so that you do not get diarrhea. I hope that you find the answers that you are seeking. Take good care. JeaneauView Thread
Hi Hannah, I have not ever had a problem with the foods I eat and Crohn's but I know there are people with that problem. I want to invite you to join our Crohn's and Colitis community here on Web MD. We have several people who are on gluten free and can give you some hints and tips on diet. I hope that you can find something that can put you back in remission.
Take good care,
You are more than quite welcome. What did the doctor say his next course of therapy would be for you. Just the Prilosec? I hope you find a medication that will work for you if it is reflex. take good care, JeaneauView Thread
sorry that you have been having these types of problems. You need to go to a gastroenterologist first and then maybe follow that up with an endocrinologist to see if you have and autoimmune syndromes that cause severe thickening of the saliva. Have they every done a swallow study under floroscopy, have you had an MRI? Hope you can find some answers but unfortunately we are not to diagnose on the internet. and you wouldn't want some non professional telling you things they may no nothing about . Hope you feel better and can find the answers you are seeking. Take good care, JeaneauView Thread
Hi, I know you must be scared, anyone would be. I belong to another WebMD community called Crohn's and Colitis....we have several girls who have had their colons and rectums removed. They might be able to help you with what it is like to live without one. Their problems were severe Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis and have been very, very sick. This is not something you enter into lightly. You end up having constant diarrhea (up to 15times a day). That is extremely debilitating and limiting when it comes to social activity. Having to take laxatives, to me, is much easier than going thru life with an ostomy or a J pouch for the rest of your life. Please get a second if not a third opinion with this problem. I hope you can find the answers that you are seeking. Take good care, JeaneauView Thread
I hate to say this but with those symptoms you need to go the the emergency room. Also EKG's can be normal with an abnormal problem with the heart. My husband was having chest pains and they treated him for acid reflux for one year, his EKG's were normal. Come to find out he had a normal EKG but an abnormal stress test. He has a 95% blockage in one of his main arteries. Please go to the ER and have them do cardiac blood workup on you. I know you are young but heart disease knows no age! I hope you get well and that it is just a medical scare and that there is nothing wrong with you. Take good care, JeaneauView Thread
Sorry you are having such problems and I know they can be disconcerting but you need to make an appointment with a GI doctor. We are not allowed to diagnosed on the internet and I wouldn't feel safe if I got one on the internet. I hope you can find the answers that you are seeking. I know it is worrisome but you can find the answers you need. Take good care, JeaneauView Thread
You have not stated how old you are? Are you sure you could not be having signs of heart problems? Are you a diabetic? These are many questions that are important to a diagnosis. You cannot be diagnosed over the internet since we are not physicians but I can tell you a story. My husband, 60yo diabetic and over weight, was having some chest discomfort, bloating and feeling full. The doctors put him on everything you can for acid reflux. Well, just last Friday he was diagnosed with severe heart disease and an artery that is not able to be stented or bypassed. He can only be treated medically and with diet. I just hope he stays with me for 20 more years! Please, push your doctors to find an answer so that you can stay healthy. Who cares if it take 10 second opinions! I hope you find the answers you are seeking. Take good careView Thread
Sorry it took so long for someone to reply to you. Welcome to our community.
#1 You can't figure out if you are lactose intolerant by eating dairy one day. It is much more complicated than that. You need to start a food diary along with what symptoms you are getting when you eat certain foods.
#2 You need to see a gastroenterologist if you are having this type of diarrhea and problems eating.
Taking supplements is always a good idea when you are having a problem eating but you stand a chance of not tolerating the supplements either.
I hope you can find the answers to you problems. Make sure you make that doctor appointment. Take good care,View Thread
Of course you should speak to your doctor about what is going on! Anytime you have vomiting to this extent you should speak to your doctor. Why are you on Metformin 1500mg/day if you are not a diabetic?
You might not get anyone here to give you a diagnosis since it is against WebMD to do so since we are not physicians.
Is there a reason that you do not want to go to the doctors. The biggest reason why people get advance diseases is that they are afraid of what the doctor may tell them. Don't you think it is better to talk to your doctor than get someone who is not in the medical profession tell you what they think it is. Who knows what kinds of answers you will get. I have been a nurse for many, many years and would not feel comfortable trying to tell you what you might have. Please go see your doctor.
Hope you find the answers that you are looking for and can get better. Take good care,View Thread
