I was diagnosed with IBS just over two years ago. I was perscribed a perscription that i just refused to take since all the side effects seemed to be equivalent to my symptons. It was not long after the diagnosis that my mom discovered Apple cider Vinegar for her heartburn issues. Prior to taking Apple Cider Vinegar she was on a perscribed ant-acid which ultimately caused bladder infection after bladder infection which lead to back to back doses of anti-biotics. She did some research and discovered Apple Cider Vinegar for heartburn and acid reflux issues. Since she began taking the vinegar she has occassionally popped a TUMS and maybe has had two bladder infections. I read up about the apple cider vinegar and saw it could help IBS. IT'S amazing!!! Unless I'm under a lot of stress i have no flair ups! 1 to 3 tsps a day in 8 oz of water does the trick!!!View Thread
I'm not completely familiar with C.Diff other than it being bacterial and in the intestines. As mentioned - antibiotics are not the answer for cold and flu. If your main worry is to avoid this I suggest take the upper levels of Vitamin D to strengthen your overall immune system (2,000 to 4,000 IUs daily). Also, my family and I always have colloidal silver on hand and it's usually administered when a sign of the sniffles emerge. Almost two years of using it like this and neither I nor my children could be members of the Blue Man Group and we don't miss work or school due to illness (knock on wood).
Also getting a seperate probiotic is never a bad idea. Good luck!View Thread
I feel for all of you - I went through similar struggles that really hit hard about two years ago. I insisted on every test under the sun (when you are that miserable you don't care whats being stuck where if it might lead to answers) and everything showed up normal so the diagnoses was IBS. I had to come to the conclusion if i just didn't eat i might be ok, then i started to think maybe it was just the air i breathed. Bottom like my biggest reason for any flare up (gas, bloating, constipation) is stress. The more i would get worked up about when i might have an 'attack' next, the more it would cause a flare up. It's really debilitating.
First my advice (I am no doctor, but have lived it) is get off the nexium and buy some apple cider vinegar right from your grocery store. 1 to 3 tsps a day in 8 oz of water (might gag for awhile, and some friends have told me they prefer cool to luke warm water rather than cold water) before meals. I would give this a week to work - make a journal so you can be sure if it's helping or not. And dont' just take my word for it - research apple cider vinegar and it's many benefits - i almost think it goes back to the saying "An apple a day keeps the doctor away". I have been taking it for over a year now and only under extreme stress to i have any signs of IBS. It's natural, it's inexpensive, it's easy.
Second, i know they say veggies are good for you - but try to avoid gassy ones for awhile. I had to go without broccali for about 6 months.
Third, I know it is so much easier said than done...but relax...take a deep breath. Are there other issues in your every day life that could be causing it? Take a stress quizz.
As we all know, the most important thing we have is our health. Don't give up and i wish luck!View Thread
IN the blood tests did they check for Celiac disease? I went through similar things two years ago and i was convinced i coudl have celiacs - after i begged a doctor to test for it (apparently an expensive blood test) it came back negative and turns out i have IBS which is mostly stress induced, but at 3 years old i would hardly think stress is causing your daughters issues. Apple Cider Vinegar has helped with all my constipation issues. I have also heard chiropractic care (if not caused by a food allergy) can help with bowel disorders and basically when they are adjusting you the 'cracking' you hear is gas - there are chiropractors that specialize in pediatric care.
I'm glad to hear you don't have her taking Miralax anymore - one doctor told me i would just need to take it for the rest of my life and i would be fine. NO WAY! I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter and the not knowing, but don't give up - keep forcing them to do tests and keep trying new options.View Thread
