Try the probiotic Saccharomyces boulardii. This helped me greatly and also helped my aunt when she had constant diarrhea. Sometimes when we take medications and especially antibiotics, it will kill all our healthy gut bacteria and cause problems like....... the runs. It's not fun. You have to put healthy good bacteria back into your digestive system and it usually clears up. If you google the probiotic i stated above, you will find that it is specifically used for diarrhea. It helped me, give it a try. I think since you've tried so many prescription meds and you've gotten no results, it would be wise to try a probiotic to address whatever issue is going on in that gut of yours.
I've had Colitis for over 10 years up until 2009 and now I have Crohn's colitis. I am not familiar with Fistulas and fissures but I think I have one. Would I need a Colorectal Surgeon? & can I call and get an appointment with a colorectal surgeon without a referral. It's rather embarassing AND when I got my pap smear I told my doctor the issue and where it was located and she said everything looks fine. Ummmm, I know my body, it was never like this before. My issue is that when I am straining, I think the spasm is so intense that it forces me to urinate... BUT not from the place you're supposed to urinate. I also thought I had hemorroids but they aren't going away and look different than the ones I have gotten in the past.
& is it okay to just stop Remicade infusions? I don't have a specialist, so I can't get the infusion... How can I get Remicade without having a specialst?View Thread
It may be a food allergy of some kind. Maybe a sensitivity to dairy products or foods containing gluten. I would start a food diary to figure out what foods make you feel better/worse. You then can have more control over your bm's and know what to eat when (so you're not running to the bathroom every 5 min during your important meeting)View Thread

I've heard a lot about water purification lately. I have just started to boil my water and then wait 12 hours or so to consume. There's all different methods to purifying water, gadgets to connect to the faucet, drops and poweders to add. What works and how does fluoride and chlorine affect conditions like Crohn's and colitis?View Thread
For those of you that are in REMISSION ..... Ewww, I just looked at that word "remission" and it is ugly (it whispers........"I'll be baaaaack"). My goal is not to be in remission or approaching good health (aka having a life again) feeling well... Finally!! We know the feeling from diseased to healthy and all the time that goes by in between or leading up to wholeness. Even if you haven't gotten to the place of health that you are satisfied with and are still fighting your disease and/or in search for the treatment/pattern of lifestyle changes that you are confident with to keep you disease free,
how long have you been battling with your disease?
Everyone has different factors in their life that will influence and have an effect on your health. Crohn's, colitis, ibd, ibs and all these disease seem to require a lengthly recovery time. That's just what i've noticed. I am curious to know how long it has taken you from the time you started flaring to the time that you can say that you are feeling whole again (which to me means being able to spend most of your time during the day on your feet without requiring a nap, you don't experience symptoms like rectal bleeding, pain along with frequency or whatever your symptoms may be - They are gone). The majority of your thoughts aren't mostly consumed by health / diseases / symptoms / treatments/nutrition. You can hold a job again, exercise or anything that will require strength and endurance doesn't look impossible. Basically, you have gotten your life back!!
Hi there.... I'm so sorry you have to suffer with this problem.
I said to myself; no I say to myself that it figures of all the things wrong with me, it would have to be this embarrassing or involve the most embarrassing place on my body.
You should not be having pain like this all the time. Maybe your pcp will have a solution or maybe she/he will refer you to a GI doctor. Do whatever it takes to make things better for yourself and your quality of life. If your starting to become moody and anxious and it's effecting your everyday life, do what you have to do to bring relief and treatment to the problem.
My situation - I thought I had a hemorroid but it hasn't gone away and I don't think believe it's a hemorrhoid... I have Crohn's and fistulas are common and I think that's what it is. IDK for sure, but I need to see a specialist the gi dr or maybe a colorectal surgeon. It's all so embarrassing, but it helps to think that these doctors have seen worse and all shapes, sizes. It also helps to think that my issue is nothing in comparison to what other people are getting treated for. Good luck to you girl! Be brave and you're not alone
Anyone ever hear about the SCD Diet created and discussed in the book, Breaking The Vicious Cycle - Intestinal Health THrough Diet by Elaine Gottschall?? I tried this diet a few years ago and didn't stick with it. I'm not going to tell you the diet and restrictions are not easy. You have to be dedicated, motivated and serious about gaining your health back. I have heard stories upon stories of success by people that cured themselves with this diet. Because diet does matter and makes a difference!
From the people that have tried and stuck with this SCD diet, it has dramatically helped with healing and being able to get their life back.
So, if you've tried this diet, how did it go and how do you feel now in contrast to when you 1st started the diet?
Also, what has your doctor discussed with you regarding food/diet?
I will begin the SCD diet today. WIsh me luck that I will finally get better from this dreadful Crohn's Disease
information about the SCD diet can be found at this site, if interested. I like this site, but keep in mind, there's a ton of information about this diet out there in Web world. Share a SCD site that you like if you have one! I'd love to check it out!View Thread
