I am a very active and fit 27 year old and thought getting pregnant when my husband and I decided the time was right would be easy. Boy, was I wrong!
We got married in 2009 and stopped taking the pill the month after our wedding. We figured it may take a few months for my system to adjust. It seems that each month I was off the pill my periods just got worse and worse. They were unpredictable. I would go from a 28 day cycle to a 45 day cycle, to spotting in between and it was just a disaster.
If the irregular periods weren't bad enough, I started to have SEVERE cramping around January 2011. I couldnt even get out of bed! I knew this wasn't normal, and with the crazy year of no luck in conceiving, I decided to go to the Dr.
During the pelvic exam my doctor noticed that my uterus seemed enlarged and had me come in the following Monday to have a transvaginal ultrasound done just to get a better idea of what was going on in there.
The ultrasound uncovered 2 large cysts on my right ovary, which is pretty normal however, one of them was solid. The "solid" cyst naturally raised everyones concerns and after a long discussion I decided to just do the laporacopic surgery and have them drained/removed.
Surgery was done on March 4 and thank goodness I made that decision!
It was discovered that I had a severe case of endometriosis! My doctor removed majority of scarring and endo growths, but told my husband and I that it we shouldn't wait any longer. Having children would either be now or never.
2011 should be a very interesting year for us :-)
