Hi Anna, Actually I was really busy & it did slip my mind. A neighbor asked for my help. I agree with Candi about the service dogs whether they are for seizures or other conditions. Me personally probably never happen. I have a phobia of dogs. I was attacked by one several years ago. Actually my vision loss is from a slip & fall head trauma on concrete.View Thread
Hi Anna, Sorry you are going through a double whammy like this. I however do know where your coming from. Candi is a very smart woman. She knows her stuff when it comes to seizures. It was best described by her saying a seizure is like an electrical storm. A high amount of seizures can do multiple things including but not limited to migraines & vision loss in whole or part. My vision loss is from a head trauma. You asked is this normal for what is going on with seizures. With the amount of seizures in such a short time I would say absolutely. I am legally blind with epilepsy. Although it's not the cause of my blindness. I have had several concussions from my seizures walking into door frames & walls. No perifriel vision at all its totally gone. The stigma of others who think we are faking it have no idea what we go through. I get no warning with my seizures. I notice 1 tell tale sign. My mouth gets excessively dry & scratchy. Pretty much like swallowing a bag of cotton followed by sand.
Hi Cathi, We both have very similar conditions as I am legally blind myself. I know how you feel about asking others to take you places, I have to do the same thing. unless there is public transportation in you area. Even that can be a big challenge. As I sit here typing I wonder what type of blindness do you have & Do you use a mobility cane or service dog?
First thing is your husband did an excellent jobs of handling the situation. Kudos to the kids. As far as the restaurant they should be ashamed of themselves. Most people are ignorant when it comes to educating one self. You don't need to be a medical professional to handle a person with seizures just an educated person. Talk about a run around you are getting from the dr.s. Sorry to hear you went through all of this. to answer you question about the 2 episodes. Unless it is diagnosed as another type of seizure type such as PNES. than yes 2 or more seizures is equivalent to epilepsy. I know about back issues 5 pinched nerves to be exact. I would strongly recommend you going to see the chiropractor. I go to a chiropractor as well.
Thank you Angie, That's very nice of you to wish me a happy fathers day. As a matter of fact I am a dedicated Steelers fan. Cowboys are like cuss words to me. Lol. I probably will never be 100% controlled. It's also a reality I have come to accept.
Hi Angie,I remember you mentioning that was planned but it wasn't done yet at that time. Glad to hear of the better seizure control due to less stress. They are both doing fairly well now. WOO HOO for independence.
Hi Angie, all is going better than it was. Been at the hospital most of the first few months. not for me though. My son & his grandfather were both in the hospital. Been rough but doing well all considered. I hope all is going well for you.
Wendy,I totally agree with Angie on this one. the best thing you can do for yourself at this point is to get off Of Keppra. If they won't listen make them listen. Sometimes you got to be very stern with them. It's what I had to do to make my point crystal clear to them. The other med you are taking is an anxiety/seizure med. They could be working against each other. Or it could be relaxing you to much causing the blood pressure drop. Dizziness ect. I also had negative side effects from Keppra. Not to mention doing nothing to control my seizures. I had all the mood problems you speak of. Including aggression, severe insomnia, overly sensitive & more. I am on tegratol now it works well for me. The right meds are out there its just a matter of finding what works for you.
Hi KeppraUser, I at one time used Keppra for my seizures. It was not a good experience either. I am refering to the most common side effect. The Keppra Rage. Needless to say that was a side effect that I found unacceptable. I do not think you are a jerk. This is deffinitly med related. Are you taking any other meds for anything else? I would try what Candi said. I see a person looking for answers. That is the first step to solving the mood problem. Are your seizures controlled? Also the thing comes to mind about what Candi said at 1 time about diet. Maybe altering it a little might help to. Best wishes & keep us posted.
