Hello all! I am sorry I have Not responded sooner to Some posts. I have been going through a rough patch. Health wise I have been fine. After carefull consideration I have Filed for divorce. I sent my husband packing a month and a half ago and still have no regrets. Life is actually happier for my children and me.
Since he was mad at me he had the internet shut off at my house and now I have to go to the library to get on. I hope to get the net back on next week. Just be aware to those of you who have posted questions or comments on my disscussions I am not ignoring you1 lol
I did try to respond to some but the computer Ièm using is not working well at this point. I will try again next week.
So I forgot to mention the nights I had the jerks I was battling a migraine too. I have been keeping up with my journal for the doc and noted all this. I'm doing more research on myoclonics in case this happens again. Thanks for the reminder though! Now as for my diet, I cannot get into any better eating habbits. I have not changed much but not for lack of trying! I just get in a hurry to fix food for the family and end up eating whats made. Guess I should try a bit harder. I'm hoping to find another doc soon so I can ask them questions like I ask you. I just hate to start over with every appt. I still need an mri for my neuro surgeon for this year and he isn't on my insurance now either. Got the list of providers now to find a slew of docs to visit.
Wish me luck and have a happy week! Thanks for the imput.
Thanks for the insight. I'm still so new to this and with my vision so bad I have a hard time researching online.
I may not have posted clearly about the numbness I have felt. I had this feeling only 3 times and I have not been to the dentist. It hits after the morning dose and only lasts 5 or 10 minutes each. I assumed its a s/e. If thats all I get then ok. I actually get more energy with vimpat. I have even lost 5 lbs since I started on it. Without changing my routine. I do seem to run hot alot more than I used to. Like I have 'power surges' more frequently.
Hey since you mentioned the dentist, Can the gas be used for anxiety at the dentist? I'm a whimp bigtime and my pharmacy couldn't tell me. I really need a visit though.
I am now going to do more homework about myoclonic szs. I will grill my hubby to get better details as well. I had just remembered those nights with the jerks I also had a migraine too.
Any way thanks for your help! I'll be around 'lurking' till I can get back to the doc. Have a great day!View Thread
So now that I've had time to adjust to the vimpat, How do I know whats happening? Wether its a s/e, aura, or seizure? Three times now I had the sensation of being numb like I left the dentist an hour before. My nose, upper lip, and tongue are affected. All 3 times I had just taken a dose of meds. Any ideas?
Also I "jerk" in my sleep lately to the point of waking my hubby sometimes 5-6 times a night. these last for a few seconds at a time. I have no memory of this but wake up really tired like I hadn't slept. I think it bothers him more than me though. Ive kept up with a journal to fill in the doc but the neuro I just met is not covered by my new insurance. Therefore I had to cancel this weeks appt with her to find another new one. I have a love/hate relationship with insurance companies! (mostly hate) Anyways I just wondered if anyone might have some insight to get me by for now.
So I became a busy bee this past week! Between getting kids back on a school schedule, I also welcomed two new families to my area. One of them is very similar to mine. Well the size and ages of them. For each of my kids they have one the same age. Cant believe my luck! I was starting to stress about how to get my kids three miles to the bus stop for school. And how to get the youngest home from school 15 miles from here since the bus only goes one way for kindergarten. She has one the same age and has the same issues now. So now she is willing to take my kids when she takes her's to and from the bus. My hubby and his boss are great too. Hubby will take an early/long lunch to bring both little ones home. Such a weight off! I wanna be stress free!
I hope all is well with you and your family, Even four legged members. I love mine like kids and we take ours almost every where. I can't imagine one of them being injured like that!
I am happy there are people like you in the world! I wouldn't have survived without my bff. She watched 4 of my kids while I worked every day for two years without any pay! I did provide food for my kids but she refused payment for the rest. Thank God and you for being in it for the service and not the $.
Anyway, I am doing great on the new meds. I have a question though. I hear of people who have absence seizures (staring off?) where they are still aware of their surroundings?( I think thats what I read) How can you tell if its seizure or daydreaming? I just realized I find myself staring and I see things in real life (kids) but can't recall what they ask or miss part of a song, tv program. I noted this in my journal already but I can't tell whats happening. Thanks for your help!
I am so sorry for not replying sooner! At least I warned you it might take a few days. Anyway It's great that you know what you want to do with your life. I'm 32 and I have 5 kids. I have no skills to speak of. I love music but you don't want to hear me sing! I can pick out a tune on the piano with one hand but I don't read music. I haven't worked in 7 years so nothing there. I'm lost. My Mom says that i'm only good for birthing babies, (she was joking I hope.) The only thing I really enjoyed is reading. It's hard to not read now so I listen to audio books while I clean house. This is my life now and I get along just fine.
So I'm Happy for you and your Dad. It's very inspiring for me too see you both Follow your dreams. You have such insight to uplift others and at such a young age! I can only hope that some day I can get the perspective you have. I am still in adjustment mode learning how to cope with decreased visibility and the chance of a seizure. I'm not so afraid for myself, I worry for my children. I've learned though they are very resilient.
Keep following your dreams I hope you get where you want to be. Maybe in the future I will get to read the book you are working on!
Hope you are having a great week with every thing!
My name is Cathi. I'm not as informed about things as others are but I 'lurk' and read posts from others. I found this to be extremely helpful! I try to read (be read to) as many posts as possible. Getting my children to read these to me is not an easy task over summer. You see I am legally blind along with seizures. I'm pretty new to this as both my problems started a year and a half ago. I will tell you these Ladies and Gents on here are great. They are good at replying with informative helpful tips and resources. Sometimes it takes a few days but don't get discouraged! Someone will come to help.
So about finding someone in your area. Have you tried your search engine for support groups near you? I don't know where you are but a lot can be found online. Also stay with us here to make our 'family' more diverse. Doesn't matter what if anything you post. Questions, vent, ramble, ect. is always welcome. I know from experience.
Hello again. I'm not sure if my bc would work now. she was kicked in the head by a horse about a year ago and seems off ever since. she won't even chase a ball anymore. She would rather chase the Aussie who chases the ball. More research to be done. I haven't noticed any unusual clingy behavior from either dog before a seizure but I have only had two. One started while asleep and one while out to dinner. Unless I'm having some I didn't know about.?
I like to have a warm cup of tea right before bed. Just green tea or something herbal. Works for me. I am sleeping better again at night now. I think the meds have almost adjusted in my system now. Still very energized all day. which is great! I have noticed my mind is 'confused' at times. Nothing serious but I can't find the right word, or how to spell some words usually bigger but frequently used, and sometimes i get days of the week and times of the day confused. (Noted in my journal already)
I can see why one child won't get you very far very fast. Im just happy to not have to pay someone else to watch my three little ones. I bet that would make a dent in my checkbook! LOL
I am sad by the loss of my central air which went out earlier this month. Only I cant get it repaired. It is too old and we can't find parts. Plus the wires were all melted in the unit. Lucky it didn't start a fire! I hope I have no ill affects from the heat in my house. I know some do and some don't.
Well I posted longer than intended again! I just love to chat and I have no other contact with adults except for my hubby. He is ok but doesn't get why I get lonely so much. He is not a people person and I am.
Hello to all! I am sitting here 'lurking' in your posts and I wanted to Provide my experience with social security. I hope you all don't mind. It hits a sore spot with me.
Any way, to the point, I am legally blind and I have seizures all due to a brain tumor in Jan of 2012. No driving for me either way( no public transport here either). In Jan 2013 I applied for SSI (not enough credits for SSDI). I was found medically disabled at the first part of July. Then just last week I got a letter that even though I qualified for SSI I wouldn't get anything for benifits due to my husbands pay for the last two months. Maybe this winter I can get something.
So in respect I did but didn't win (first try) and in fact I am worse off now than before. All the government Help we are getting is going to end now as well. They shouldn't count income before deductions. I mean we pay taxes and for insurance with money we never see. They should count only what is brought home to 'live' off of. I live in a two bedroom trailer with a family of 7 people. I am not trying to abuse the system I would just like to get on my feet after some hardfalls. To get away from robbing Peter to pay Paul as they say.
I guess the government doesn't care that the oil fields of Utah are too busy in the summer and will basicly shut down during the winter. Mandatory overtime one week and barely 40 hours the next. Can't win for loosing.
Any way Good luck to any who apply for help! I hope they get farther than me.
I thought about a service dog for my vision loss and didn't realize that one could serve for seizure activity until you mentioned it. I have spent time researching it the last few days. I haven't seen anything that doesn't make sense except what is the possability of training for seizure and blindness in one dog. That would be awesome if it could be done without overwhelming me and the dog. Ive only found one pro trainer in Utah so far but I'm looking for more. I know a girl that used to train dogs for 4-H years ago.
I have an aussie who is going to be ten this year. Had him since birth, and I have a border collie who is 4 or 5. Kinda late start for training them but the collie might could work.
Anyway still no known s/e of the new meds. Totally on Vimpat and thats it now. I was wondering if going from never dreaming to having more than one a night could be a s/e though? I haven't read it any where but maybe? I can't decide if I just don't sleep as deep now. before I wouldn't even move at night. Now I toss and turn making my back pain worse and I have 2-3 dreams every night that I can remember upon waking. I wake every time my hubby rolls over or gets up. I'm still not tired during the day though. Yet anyway.
I forgot to mention in my response to you, My optic nerves are flatter than normal but they are extreamly pale too. The opto said that they almost never recover from being this damaged. Also my pupils don't dialate properly or evenly. Could explain why my night vision stinks as well.
