Hi Jane even here in Calif. people don't understand fibro so your not alone this is a good website so we can talk to each other. I too do alternative meds . I have had this fibro for over 25 yrs and I have found to function it is a guessing game as to what will help today. I use 5HTP at night ,calcium, magnesium, potassium at night to sleep this works for me. I have the tingling, numbness burny sensation in my hands and feet so I use a homeopathic called NerveFix from Vitacost look it up on the internet for the nerves this really helps and Ultram or tramadol for the pain, Vicodan when a flare up comes, hot water or ice so it is all a guessing game according to the way you feel . hope some of this helps and also low impact aerobics as well as Tai Chi. fitzgiftView Thread
I also have experienced this and what helped me was St Jon's Wort it is a herb and as long as you are not on Coumadin there isn't any drug reactions , 5HTP is used with this hope this was helpfulView Thread

Hi Lisa Ihace had fibro for over 30yr the best advice I can give you is listen to your body and say No to people when you can't do anything that you know you will pay for later. Pick and choose your activities.
Stretching is better then excessive excercise, strength exercise also . Take anti inflammatory plus Lyrica for sleep I do Naturel med KavaKave ,valerian or something like this Lemongrass tea is good at night for sleep also
Good luck fitzgiftView Thread
I aGree with all that has been said I have had this dis-ease for over 30 years . You have to not realize there are a lot ofeople that are in the same boat. When I first was diagnosed I went to a support group. I learned that fibro causes a lot of medical problems ,from the Burny shooting pains to internal organs like IBS it's something we just have to live with. I also learned how important stretching is and walking the hard exercise hurts so just stretching all the body parts is important.
meds for fibro help like Cymbalta. Lyrica and any anti inflammatory med like Advil . you are very caring I can tell by your letter just be there for her and let her talk. She needs to want to help herself though.
You sound like a wonderful sister, I have NLT a son and he does the best he can but we don't live in the same area
