I haven't been here in a while so thought I would stop by and give you all an update.
I have attended all the support groups, and am even going to another one tonight for the RNY (Gastric bypass).
I've finished all my pre-op testing and blood tests. After being on Vit D for 6 months I have found out my vit D is still very low. So please everyone get yours tested more than once. I am now taking twice the amount I was and also iron.
I have also found that I have low oxygen levels but in the process of fixing that.
On a FM note: my pain has decreased a bit with the small amount I have lost for surgery. I got so bad I had to sit in a wheel chair to do my grocery shopping. Being in pain all the time didn't allow for much movement.
My pcp gave me prescribed anti-inflamitory which helped with my back and joint pain. I'm now on trazadone to help me sleep as well as flexeril.
My flair ups are there, but I have a renewed sence of what my future will be when I've lost more weight. I know I'll always have pain, but with my meds and a positive outlook I think I'll be ok.
I can only hope my FM family will have the peace of mind that I do right now, and that I will continue to have it.
We can give in to pain, or fight through it....I know it's easier said than done, but we have lives to live.View Thread

I will always have FM and FM pain, I am not nieve to that. I also wont have diabetes, vertigo, migraines, or over weight pain added to my FM pain.
Thank againView Thread

I went to see my doctor on Monday. I was given yet another prescription...hope this one helps. I feel like a walking pharmacy...huh
Anyway she's concerned that my imobility due to pain, and the increased wieght that she has asked me to have bariatric surgery. She seems to think wieght loss will reduce my pain, and help me to feel human. I'm 32, 5'6" and 280lbs....
It's summer now, and since my pain levels have increased over the last year there are so many things I remember doing, that I wont even attempt right now. I have to sit in a wheel chair to go shopping, and I love cooking, but can't stand long enough to make a meal for my family.
What I'm wondering is if anyone here as had this surgery, and if so did it decrease pain levels in any way. I just dont want to look forward to it, and then have no change. I will however go through with the surgery, since at the moment I'm at risk for diabetes and high blood pressure.
Thanks, hope everyone is having a minimal pain week.View Thread

I haven't been on in a while. Has a massive migraine flare and small print was not easy to read...lol
I went to the doctors yesterday...After a year and a half getting B-12 shots once a month I get to now switch to a daily vitamin. But my meds are confussing me....
I'm taking Cymbalta...and anti-depressant for pain.
Inderal....a blood pressure medication to prevent migraines.
Cyclobenzaprine....a muscle relaxer because I have jaw pain (TMJ)
Prilosec...GERD meds cause I have a soar throat
Trazodone...another anti-depressant to help me sleep
If ever there was just a medicine that was made to do one thing and used for that one thing....lol....Is this a normal thing?View Thread

When I take my pain meds I have a hard time relaxing until they kick in. While I know cold makes somethings about FM worse, this one helps for a shorts time.
I used to drink large slushies, but there is so much sugar in them and ice cream that the sugar and cold counteracted eachother. Recently I have found Italian Ice again...lol. I didn't think they still made it, but they do. Anyway, I get the push-up Italian Ice pops, and if eaten at a slow pace, it generally subsides the pain until the meds kick in. I get a case of 24 at BJ's and they are fat free, cholesterol free, and dairy free...
Thats what I ahve to share for now... Hope it helps someone.
