Oh my gosh I am not the only one!!! I go through the same thing sometimes it takes me forever to pee. I am on the toilet 10 minutes just to pee! It's like I have to wait for it to drop to a certain point then push really hard for any to come out then it's back to the waiting game. I am 47 and going into menopause, I haven't had a period in over 6 months. I can't take hormone replacements because they mimic morning sickness only it hits me at night. I take black cohosh instead.
Does anyone have a clue as to if it is menopause or fibro or what? I also have IBS so on that end I either can't go or I am running for the bathroom. This is so crazy.... are we just cursed as women or what?View Thread

Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for this! I can use this with some people who can't comprehend fibro, everyone that is except for my ex-husband who keeps reminding me that "there are people in this world who are a lot worse off than you Chele" and quit using that as an excuse. I am not saying that there are not people who are worse off, I am simply saying that this is how I feel at the moment and I have to pay attention to how I feel to do what I need to do.
I am in my 2nd year of college and at 47 I have to handle my very active 6 yr. old, my 12 yr. old daughter who has been an insulin dependent diabetic since she was 16 MONTHS old, 40 hours of homework, house cleaning, errands, and their homework. Yes my kindergartener has homework believe it or not! Beside having to deal with fibro I have arthritis & a herniated disc in my lower back which makes any task that requires me to bend repeatedly almost impossible or I end up in tears and do it anyway.
I am going to use this when people question me repeatedly about why? you look fine to me? and I hate the looks I get when on the rare occasions at Walmart I have to use the motorized shopping carts. I have to go to 3 different grocery stores to make my food stamps last as long as possible & sometimes it requires 2 or more hours of shopping.
I can't wait to graduate and be rid of my meager $698 SSI check, medicaid and food stamps!!!
Thank you to everyone here whom I do not have to explain myself to and I hope on one of my few replies I have helped someone.
I read my daily emails but have very little time to be online except to do homework!

Hi fibrostressed!
Chele here in crazy NW Indiana, 90 one day and 68 and rain the next, bad for my fibro body but I have found some supplements that help with morning pain and stiffness. I am a 47 yr. old mom in college with 2 kids at home and single so I do not get much time online except for homework but I do read a lot of the posts and this morning I felt compelled to actually spend some time on WebMD.
I take liquid filled calcium 1200mg. w/ vit.D 1000 IU, CoQ10 200 mg., krill oil (omega 3, no fishy taste) 300 mg., DHEA 25 mg., Malic acid with Magnesium from the local health food store as CVS does not carry it. Eleuthero (formerly known as Siberian Ginseng) 425 mg. I usually buy my supplements at CVS when they have the buy 1 get 1 free deal. Nature Made is a very good brand and has reward codes on the bottle for coupons.
The DHEA & Malic acid w/ Magnesium are made by Olympian Labs and those I buy at my health food store. Krill oil is more expensive but worth it to me. I was told that if you burp up any fish oil your body is not absorbing it and you have just flushed your money down the toilet. Krill oil has been proven to be superior to any other type fish oil and it works great for me.
I have also read that Sam-e & 5-HTP also help but I cannot take them due to me being bi-polar and taking an antidepressant & mood stabilizer. I do however use melatonin to help me sleep better. I buy frozen blueberries at Aldi's for their anti-oxidant properties and eat them on my cereal. I can't wait til I can go pick & freeze fresh ones!
I am curious as to what "Curamin" contains as I am not opposed to trying anything that will help me cut down on my pain meds. I am allowed to take three 15 mg. extended release morphine a day along with four 15 mg. oxycodone. I have other issues along with fibro, arthritis and a herniated disc in my lower back.
I took Lyrica for awhile & it did help but the weight gain made things worse so I had to go off of it.
I will watch for more posts from you to see how you are doing.....

Hi Donna!
Chele in NW Indiana here. I have taken Lyrica and found it helpful but the weight that I gained from it made things worse so I had to quit taking it. But it did help a lot. I hope it gives you some relief without the weight gain. I have low thyroid problems and take Synthroid for it so that could have come into play with the weight gain issue. I wish you all the best with it.

Hi lorraine2255!
This is Chele in NW Indiana. I have a great resource for you that has been my life saver. I was introduced to a lady named Pati Chandler, she has written 2 books (I have them both) and I have found more help from her 2 books than any Dr. has ever given me. I do not wake up so stiff and in pain as I used to be and do not take as many pain killers as I did before. You can connect with her at the following web site--facebook.com/FibromyalgiaNaturallywithPatiChandler. Her first book was only $8, and I just received her 2nd book which was $12.99 postage, and it is autographed!
Please let me know if you found her to be helpful to you, as I think she is wonderful source of support as is this Community.

Anon_10089,
I am agreement with you. Besides FM I have arthritis and a herniated disc in my lower back. I am Bi-Polar w/ major depressive disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder which sounds as bad as someone with schizophrenia, but it isn't it simply a set of personality traits that they couldn't come up with a name for.
So for me even with sleeping pills I sometimes still do not sleep through the night, more often than not I am awake 2-3 times a night.View Thread

Hi! This is Chele from freezing NW Indiana. I am so sorry you haven't gotten any support from any doctors,
I just recently really started digging into my fibro to find something, anything to ease the pain and fatigue. I went to the local health food market and from some of the suggestions from others here and the lady at the market, I can tell you what I am trying.
First on my list was the 5-HTP, followed by magnesium malate, krill oil which is proven to out perform typical fish oils, and also informed that if you burp up fish oil you are not digesting it properly and basically wasting your money.
Then I got black cherry concentrate for it's antioxidants, I take 2 TBSP a day.
I also bought a booklet by Pati Chandler called Managing Fibromyalgia - Getting to Know Your Aggravators. It was only $8 and you can find her on Facebook.
She has had fibro for 10 years and done extensive research and has footnotes to back up her reearch. She also lists helpful websites. I found this very beneficial information.
My daughter is 12 and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 16 mos. old, I also have extensive knowledge about diabetes, you can find me on Facebook also, just type in Michele Futrell and I will share anything that might be helpful to you with diabetes because some of the things that help diabetes also help with fibro.
I have also found Ambien helpful for sleep, but with all your med problems you might want to discuss this in depth with your Dr.
I decided at 46 to go back to school, I am 47 now and found it a huge challenge. I cannot live on my meager SSI check and the memory and fatigue make it twice as difficult, not to mention kids, house work, grocery shopping, etc.
But I am learning, slowly, but I have taken on a new attitude and am trying to adjust my lifestyle from a Type A, always on the go and involved in many activities, to one of careful pacing my activities to minimize my symptoms and being proactive in managing my own health.
I hope some of this helps and welcome to your newly found support system.
Many blessings ~~CheleView Thread

Margaret,
Thank you for your reply. Could I ask what carisoprodol is? Medicaid won't pay for zolpidem because I switched from alprazolam to clonazapam (Xanax to Klonopin). If I could do something different I sure would like to try. My ex-husband, with whom I am stuck living with brought home an 8 wk. old puppy yesterday so I was up every 2 hours last night. I am not doing it again tonight!
Rozerm just doesn't work as well as zolpidem. My pain doc wants me to try morphine ER, and something for break through pain. After the last week I am going for it. 4 15mg. oxycodone a day just isn't doing the job.
I appreciate all the support I get here, no one else understands. I think, and I say think with caution, that this doc does.
And finally, thank you! It is very difficult to manage FM and school because I never know how I am going to feel from day to day but I have to do it or I will be stuck in this hole for the rest of my life and I would just as soon die than do that!
~~~May God bless you real good (my Granny's saying)
