daer Annette, almost missed your "salute" story , still getting used to finding new postings on this site. Love that story! If I did this it would be extra funny because my right middle finger is bent from arthritis so if I would do the salute this finger would point at me!
Little update on following up with your tips - very very good results. Wink, wink.....Husband is all for helping me out with the little animals now! I can hardly handle all those feel good hormones. Such a good problem! Hope you are having a great holiday weekend. we went to the polish/American festival and my husband bought me a babuschka doll. It is a panda bear with little panda bears nestled inside. One of our dogs is named Panda because she looks like a bear when her coat grows in. So cute! GabuschkaView Thread
dear Nancy, yes you can call me Gab and that makes you the only person in the world! My friends and family in Germany call me Gabi(sounds like Bobby with a G instead of the . since I moved to the states everyone here calls me Gabriele. My mom sometimes called me Gabuschka when I was a kid so feeling like a child in need of help, that's the name I started using when I joined this community. what a blessing this was! reading your postings are a very special treat for me. the kindness and understanding. So patient and giving. You are wonderful person and a real blessing to this world!
I am still meditating on one of your previous writings but not ready yet to respond to it.View Thread
good morning Kim, thanks for letting me know DH stands for dear husband. I asked my husband if he knew what it means and he said right away: designated hitter! can you tell he loves sports? LOL
so you are getting ready to move from Georgia to Alabama. Never been to either state. do you already know the area in Alabama which will be your new home? that would probably make it easier. I was born and raised in Germany. My husband was stationed there and after we got married the Army transferred us to Kentucky. Lived there for less than a year. Met some nice people but we were very poor. I coulnd't find work other than babysitting and pet sitting. we only had one car and he needed it to get to the base.the army pay check just barely covered our living expenses.transferred back to a different part of Germany. finally because of a medical discharge moved again back to the States. settled in my husbands home state Pennsylvania. Moved around several times. still in PA now and lived in this house for eight years now. that's a record time for me. I know how much work it is to move but then it's so nice when your new home turns out to be better than the old one was.
we love the same birds. those hummingbirds are so amazing and I know what you mean about the goldfinches. they love to eat! watched a cardinal and two robin nests earlier this year. so much fun to see the eggs, then the nestlings....
hope you can have some help with your packing etc. Not sure if you also have non-profit organizations like the Salvation Army in Gerorgia. I like it when you can call them and they come and pick up all the stuff you can let go of. then they even give you a donation receipt to be used at tax time. Moving is a lot of work for sure. I still haven't unpacked a lot of boxes and we have been here for eight years. still trying to recover from the packing I did years ago!
I am so glad you are writing to me. I feel like we have a lot in common.
Hi Jeja18, sorry somehow I missed your posting until now. I am still new to this community and my new computer. I am sorry you were feeling so unwell a week ago and hope you are better now or will be in the near future. I am sending you best wishes and encourage you to keep checking in. there are some very helpful people and resources here, just keep putting out your feelers and looking for the help you need. OK?!
if you touch suffering deeply in yourself and in the other person, understanding will arise.
when understanding arises, love and acceptance will also arise, and this will bring suffering to an end.

as I am counting my blessings, I notice how much help I found since I joined this community. You folks are amazing! Thank you for setting aside your own problems to share your unique ways of dealing with sickness. I learned so much from you in such a short time. Hopefully one day I will be able to help you too. Very grateful to you all (you already know who I am writing this to).
dear Kim, thanks for writing back. I am so glad you had a fun day chasing ducks and petting them. I"ll have to visit my neighbor and ask her to show me her birds again. she loves her ducks, chickens and other animals. birds are fun. We have three parakeets in the house. they are great! I was watching a humming bird taking a shower today when I was watering the plants. they look like little angels when they hoover in the air. I"ll miss them when they head south in the fall and always look forward to them in the spring.
It's good you have a friend who understands you. that's probable worth more than having ten friends who don't know how to support you in the long run. maybe one day they"ll better understand it was their loss to not stick with you for the duration.
I don't know what DH means - not really up-to-date on abbreviations. maybe you can tell me some time?
sounds like you have a move ahead and are looking forward to it. I really hope everything will go well for you.

dear Nancy, thanks for your wonderful reply. I would love to know more about the Green diet. if you feel up to it could you let me know where I can get info on it? Hope you have a great weekend and holiday. GabuschkaView Thread
dear Lou, thanks again for telling me about the spoon theory. I checked it out and told the story to my husband. I think there was break through of understanding. Hope you have a great weekend and holiday. GabuschkaView Thread
I tried a little belly dancing already in front of the mirror after the hot tub loosened up things a bit. Not a pretty sight but it was fun. thanks for telling me about the DVD. I will definitely need some instructions. I agree with you that someday a cure will be found for FM and pray this happens soon. wouldn't that be so great to pop that pill - LOL! I understand it's not good to get too hung up on that hope and settle more with what actually IS right now. thanks for mentioning the other community. I will check it out. See you here and there!
Oh, Gabuschka is what my mom called me when I was a kid. My real name is Gabriele. My parents grew up in the Carpathian mountains where many nationalities mingled. they spoke German, polish, Slovak etc. there until the war forced many out of the area. My parents were refugees and settled in Bavaria. that's we're I was born. My mom incorporated all the different languages and turned it into funny nick names only we understood. Have a good one! gabuschkaView Thread
dear Randm2220, thank you for writing to me. thanks you also for being sympathetic. It did hurt to realize my friends didn't understand me. You know what I mean?!?!Then I tought about it and it became clear: They didn't know how I was feeling! I was hiding it from them and making jokes instead of telling them. I guess I was afraid I would loose their friendship if they knew I was sick. Now I am starting to think they would most likely be supportive and I can't be upset with them. They just don't know - yet! I am working up my courage to be open and honest with them going forward and putting to use the excellent advise I got from Annette and Nancy. Did you read their replies to me? Great stuff!
I know how you feel about not feeling up to socializing and how lonely that can make you. I was housebound for what seemed like an eternity. It was really though not be able be active and around people. I finally couldn't stand it any more and made plans with old friends. We are not an island we need others became my new mantra. It has already perked me up and made it easier to live with my sickness but there is still more effort needed to make it work better. You sound like a kindred spirit so If you feel like being my buddy, please write to me. I could really use a new buddy.
Hope you have a great weekend and holiday. gabuschkaView Thread
