I am 33, "officially" diagnosed earlier this month. But, like everyone else, have had symptoms for years. Also diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome when I was 19.View Thread

For me, I call a friend or family member to chat. Especially my wonderful Aunt, who makes me laugh even when I'm having a terrible day. Sometimes, laughter IS the best medicine!

Hope your feeling better today! I have been feeling yucky the past couple of days too. It's almost like how you feel before you come down with something, but it doesn't develop into full blown sick. No fever, but glands are swollen and just general aches & pains. Anyway, just commiserating with you =P

Anon: Exactly what I thought. I did feel a little pressure to start Lyrica, & finally gave in. I do love my Dr., he is kind and actually listens to what I say. He mentioned Savella as a "reasonable next option". I put my foot down, & said I'm holding off for awhile. I have an appt. with psychiatrist soon, and mental health is also my top priority.
cjh1989: It actually increased my pain, crazy right?! No thanks!
Agrapina: Your right, my Dr. said it was an "anaphylactoid reaction". ( anaphylactoid reaction: a reaction resembling generalized anaphylaxis but not caused by IgE-mediated allergic reaction but rather by a non immunologic mechanism.) I had to look it up. So glad I called the Dr., that was scary!View Thread

Hi An..
Sorry your suffering =( I second the testing for Vitamin D level. I take a prescription Vit. D (50,000 IU) and have also noticed many here are deficient too.
I was finally diagnosed with FM a few weeks ago. I kept a journal of my symptoms, pain and fatigue to keep track of everything. This way, I was able to tell my Dr. EXACTLY how I felt.
Hang in there, try keeping a journal or notebook to keep track of how you feel. Good luck *hugs*View Thread

Hi there & welcome
I'm also newly diagnosed with FM, but realize that I've had it since my teens. I was just going through the same thing regarding the diagnosis though. I had a post titled "Hard time accepting diagnosis". Everyone here is great, lots of tips, advice and support.
Just wanted to let you know your not alone in questioning the dx. *hugs*View Thread

I thought you sounded like me LOL! I hear you about the strain from looking down, it's like an invisible string is pulled down your back.
It is scary being young with these problems, but I'm trying different things to help and educating myself. Plus, this community helps with tips, advice, support, etc. Everyone has been great! I still have "woe is me" moments (totally normal), but I can move on faster than before.
I hope your having a much better day today and thank you for your kind words

My Dr. recommended taking a FM approved med. I did my homework, researched everything I could, and decided to try Lyrica.
First off, like most of you, I'm med sensitive, so I didn't have high expectations. Sounds bad, but you know what I mean. So last night I took my first dose of 75mg. I was supposed to take 75mg. twice a day for a week, then bump up to 100mg twice a day. About an hour after taking it, my throat felt swollen, I got really tired and pain actually intensified. I thought maybe I was coming down with a bug (trying to think positive!).
This morning, my throat was fine and I had the usual "Who beat me up while I was sleeping?" feeling. Took my next dose, within an hour, same symptoms. Now, I have a tingling in my hands and feet. Feel like crap. =P
I emailed my Dr. about everything. Definitely not taking anymore. Just thought I would share my experience. What a bummer.View Thread
