I woke up this morning more stiff than I have in a week and I almost forgot how painful it is to walk across the hall to the restroom!!! Since I can't get back to sleep, I decided to start a new puzzle... It seemed to keep my mind busy and off the pain until I saw a spider inside my puzzle box! I jumped up, throwing my pieces everywhere and screamed...not in terror but in pain. I forgot to keep myself moving here and there.
and holy WOW! Today does not seem to be starting off very well

Does anyone have some pain-saving tips (besides medications) to help with Halloween activities? I carved pumpkins for the three children in my house (I would say with but they didn't help much haha) and the next morning I couldn't even change my clothes! My arms and hands were hurting so bad all I could do was cry and rub them together gently.... Then the next day, I walked through the haunted house I volunteer at (which covers a whole city block) and the next day I had the worst muscle spasms in my back!!! I plan on taking at LEAST one child trick-or-treating this Halloween and I just wanted to know how to go about this WITHOUT ending up in bed for two days after....
Thanks guys!

EXACTLY!!! Oh, how I love finding someone else on the same page as me! It's miserable and I totally give you props for working (especially as a nurse because my grandmother did it for so long and I know how hard it is sometimes) while fighting through this horrendous illness. I've noticed with my college grades that as soon as the pain started, my 4.0 slowly dropped to a 2.6 gpa... At 2.5 they will kick me out of the university I attend... I just have no motivation because what I do have I use up talking myself into getting out of bed.

I really like the Zoloft. It works wonders with my Lamictal. However, the pain clinic my mom wants me to try is all-for opioids and I'd rather stay off of those as long as possible. Thank you for your opinion tho, I'll definitely keep it in mind.View Thread

I HATED Nurotin and Lyrica. Both made me way dizzy, the Lyrica made me throw up and the Nurotin made me sleep for 2 days straight. I really hope I can find something that works because I get so frustrated because my own mom thinks I'm exaggerating. How can I exaggerate when there are times I can't even move my fingers after typing a paper for my Finals in school? *shrug* keep on keepin on, right?View Thread

I LOVE my lamictal and zoloft. I was very hostile before because I am more on the mania side as opposed to the depressed side ( I was treated for depression alone since I was 14 and going through PTSD from a rape). I didnt know what was going on with me when I went through a major mania stage and my mom was scared of me. Its hard to hear my son get frustrated because I don't want to play with him the way I used to due to the pain... How did you finally get on Tramadal? Most doctors I know won't prescribe if you "self-prescribe" and advertise that pain medication is what your searching for, especially at my age. I'm treated like a liar and a "pill-seeker," I hate it!View Thread

I cried while reading this and greatly appreciate all you shared with me, a complete stranger. My mother tries to be supportive but is really pushy or tells me to "take something and get over it." Shes been pushing me to get into this pain clinic and I dont want to be on opioids just yet. I still have more good days than bad and getting into a regular schedule has helped quite a bit. I'd rather try something like Tramadal (something I only have to take IF I need to). But, I'm scared of that too because the medical community is 50/50 on if its addicting or not and my dad has an addictive personality trait that got passed onto me (at 23 I've already battled addictions to alcohol and methamphetamine). So I get scared to try anything at all. I'll keep working at it tho. Thank you!!

Linda, I really appreciate the advice. My tattoo artist told me that her girlfriends flares of pain from FM were caused by tomatoes and potatoes. I've never read that foods can cause pain... but like you stated, nothing surprises me lately.

Thank you. I'll try some of those. I just worry that the fiber might affect my Anemia, like Calcium does. Sometimes I have to avoid milk all together (which I hate because I LOVE milk) because the Calcium breaks down what little iron I do have.View Thread
