I would not take Cymbalta. There are older meds that have worked for me. I take Amitriptline, (sp?) flexeril (generic) and Gabapentin. These meds control my pain. In other words, you may want to try other meds first. Drowsiness is the only side effect I have from these.
I have had horrible side effects from blood pressure drugs, so I pay more attention now to the list of possible side effects of any drug I take.
Welcome to our support group! I'm sure others will chime in soon. I think your concern is valid. Praying that you find what works for you,
Hi, I'm sorry to hear of your pain! I'm sure you will get lots of advice on this site. The people here are friendly, helpful, and kind! Mimi mentioned Stop Pain Spray and I think she said you can get it at Walmart. Also you may want to check out Walmart's prescription drug list and see if your meds are on the list. If you tell them that your insurance won't cover your meds, they may be able to let you buy the meds there, which is a lot cheaper than other pharmacies. In the meantime, I'm praying for you!
Thanks for the info, Meg. I pray that your appointments go well and aren't too uncomfortable! I have numbness in hands and feet, and I think it's side effects from a bp drug I was on. I stopped taking it and now it's a waiting game to see if there is any improvement. My balance is totally off, and now I've fallen 3 times, so life hasn't been easy for the past month. The doc said I will need to see neurologist if I don't get better soon. So here's hoping it's just side effects. When I was first diagnosed with FM, my lab tests showed inflammation in my body that has never been researched (high sed rate), and they also found antibodies. I have Vetiligo (sp?) and the doc said that's from my antibodies attacking the cells that cause pigmentation, or something like that. That was before I got FM.
Very true, Nancy! The older I get, the more I realize that we each have to cope with life and make adjustments that others may not understand. I think I have finally let go of my need to be understood by certain folks. Lowering my expectations helps me not to be constantly disappointed.
Thanks for the advice, Bette. I hadn't thought about the meds, yes, that's a great idea. I still have a couple of prescriptions that didn't work. I'm worse off physically now than when I first applied, and Allsup has agreed to represent me, so I'm hoping and praying for a quick hearing and an approval.
Hi Brie, If you're taking Lyrica for fibro pain and it's causing muscle pain and fatigue, that does not sound right to me. That's like a lot of drugs nowadays, the side effects are often worse than the illness. You might want to research it online and just weigh the pros and cons to see if and how long you can tolerate the side effects. I pray you find the answer soon.
Please stay safe and warm as you can! I fell today and hit my head, left arm, and tailbone on the concrete, so that kind of took a toll on my positive attitude for the day. lol Just kidding, glad to be alive even though it hurts.
Blood pressure med is giving me awful side effects, so I'm weaning myself off of it since I don't have a doc appointment lined up anytime soon to deal with it. It has caused weakness in arms and legs, numb feet and hands, and fatigue, so I've had enough of that! My next doc appointment is my diabetes checkup, and the doc only wants to cover one condition at a time. (free medical care, so I'm not complaining about that.) So after that appointment I may or may not go over bp results with her. I check it once a day and still have a med to deal with any major spikes.
I hope all of you have a nice evening and little to no pain. Thanks for being here!
Welcome! I think we all have been where you are. I take amitriptyline also to help me sleep. Also I take Flexeril, a muscle relaxant, and Gabapentin for the pain. This combo has worked for me for the last couple of years. Please let your doctor know that you are still in pain. I could never climb stairs with this illness!
Please come here often. There is so much good advice and friendly people on this site. I pray that you will get to a place with very little or no pain soon!
Hi Nancy, I live in Jacksonville north of Middleburg, small world. I'm glad you're feeling better. Yep, we had to leave faucets dripping last night so the pipes wouldn't freeze. They were calling for 30 degrees. brrrrrrrrrrrrr... we are not used to this! It will get even colder this coming week!
