I just want to chime in with my experience here. Motrin is my best friend. IT is my breakthrough med when my tramadol isn't helping as much.. This class of med though it has anti inflammatory properties works in the prostaglandin hormone department.....which actually helps muscles. It is useful in menstrual issues and back pain etc....
The problem with them is when you futz with the prostaglandins you also have to deal with fluid retention, bleeding tendencies and such. So they are not taken lightly.
I used motrin for years before surrendering to upgrade to tramadol. But I still always have it near by for a problem. I had to upgrade because of bleeding and taking too many..
Just wanted you to hear that it does help some of us. Others are past the level of help at this level. Good luck on your path to fight this disease, it is a challenge to say the least. Nancy BView Thread
I am gluten intolerant and lactose with eggs and now nuts...(meaning eating nuts, not that I am nuts!) Not written well.*
In being gluten free which is more then wheat free, I abstain from rye, barley, oats but I do eat corn and rice. I saw a change in my overall brain function so fast. My pain didn't alter too much, but I blamed that on years of essential mineral loss from diarrhea. Living dehydrated too.
I now have 3/4 soy protien source to my day and then chicken fish as my animal protien and i am doing better. It is not a fix, as this is too complex to FIX. No cure as they say. But eating to the best of our ablitiy is so imporatant. No processed chemicals for our poor bodies is helpful too. No diet anything....as aspartame is a neurotoxin and adds to our dilemma.
So I agree..........for me it was a good move. Nancy BView Thread
You shouldn't have any increase in bleeding from this. Maybe there are other things going on, like fibroids or homone issues. The docs should check on that.
Pain with sex is another story. There have been many posts over the years about this involvement in our lives. Often it is something you have to work on and reinvent positions and add lubrication if the vaginal vault is uncomfortable.
But each person had relayed that they had to "work it out" with their parter. I know for me, I could not be on top anymore..... Supporting the body with my neck muscle issues is a NO.
Reproductively is in this question too....to my knowledge there is no involvement with getting pregnant. Times today though have alot if infertility and my thoughts on that is our food sources. So much estrogen in the meats and milk......it is ruining our girls.
This is all OB/GYN stuff for sure. But if this was not a good answer, talk to Dr P. Post a comment with his name in the heading and ask him. We have pain and autoregulatory issues, but I think he will say the same. All different and need to figure the tool out for you that works. Also be seen for that bleeding....(a scraping of the uterine lining may be in order)
Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon. NancyView Thread
I don't think taking M.O.M all the time is a good thing. The bowel may get used to it, like taking exlax too much.
Can you try COLACE a stool softener (so commonly used in the hospitals for ALL patients.....and then there is PERI-Colace which has the stimulant for the bowel.
The cause here with the savella may be dehydration in the bowel....so increasing natural fiber with Fibercon etc might be good and raw vegetables. Hydrating with fluids also.....
Congratualions on the weight loss and ablity to do the movements needed. THIS IS BIG.
I found little relief with the loss and I actually had an increase there for a bit (I just folded up better!) But glad I lost the weight. I need a kick in the butt to do it again now. IT IS TIME! (have awedding in Aug)...Maybe today will start the good practices.....
Good luck and keep up the good work!.Nancy BView Thread
There is a product called Fibro malic that was recommended a while ago and it does help as one of the supplements for us.
Dr P has also taught us that Mg can be normal in the blood values yet intracellular Mg is low. SO....it is a must to be repleted.
Dr Oz stated that all should take 250mg. so I take 250mg twice a day. (one for the normal in me and one for the sick and depleted person I am) BIG help for me. It is a trial and error thing, if all the other minerals and ions in your body are in alignment you can feel better. IT is just so hard to accomplish this.
I take, Mg, Calcium, B Complex CoQ10 and fish oil as my supplements to my meds. It is part of the whole.
Oh if it were only as simple as a few things. You should always try if you can.
Thanks for sharing the malic acid again for the fmily to remember as an option in replacement.......
I find it strange that after years of neurontin....40 years*. This is a statement. People develop rhabdo from other things and maybe this person was on a mix of meds and they were just as suspect?
Savella on the other hand (you know my concerns) I feel should have a black box warning for the elderly and arrythmia prone. Also being a adrenaline raiser...you move. They say people who are depressed when *raised from depression it is when the ability to commit the suicide can occur. When depressed you have no energy to accomplish this.
I am skeptical myself...................Nancy BView Thread
Moist heat is a standard in Chiropractic, they use Hydoculator pads......hanging in hot water. It is a deeper therapy.....and so good for you.
Glad you saw that. Dry heat is hepful too, just not as deep. As you noticed the shower being so great...I also use the soap to massage the muscles (on it's side) up and down the muscle and they when slippery you can work a muscle so well......
Good thread thanks for sharing it with the fmily.
It is amazing how hard it was over the years to say no to cold for me*....they always wanted cold on my spots and OUCH is all I can say. Tightened the muscle and no relaxation....wrong for me.
It is not that it is conraindicated THEY ARE THE SAME CLASS, Cymbalta and Savella are in the SNRI class of meds.
Savella having a much higher Norepinephrine response for the patient.
Lyrica is like Gabapentin arm of therapy.....working toward the neurogenic pathway that gives us the pain sensation. So this one is different and I am not aware of it not being able to be utilized if on the other class.
I wish you luck with your pain management choices in the future. Nancy BView Thread
