A good Sunday to each of you. MiMi in NC and although I think it is a bit cooler in NC.....I fail to actually feel it much. It seems awfully hot in my house. Yesterday was not a good day for me at all. Last night was even worse. I tried to sleep and woke up with *leg cramps* several times at that. Not a good night at all.
We ate Chinese food yesterday and I have to wonder if this is what caused me to feel so bad. Don't know yet but I don't think I will be eating it again any time soon.
DH did some pressure washing yesterday and I went outside a bit for this. We had some mold on our deck and I could not stand to see it there and getting worse. It does indeed look better now. He still has not finished though. I only wish I could do this as well but I can NOT even hold the wand and it is not a good feeling for me anyway. I guess it is due to nerves not being exactly right.
Welcome to the new members who have joined our support group recently and to any who have returned from being absent for a while. It seems that it has still been quite slow....I can only hope that this is a good sign that things are going better for some of our members and that they are out and about doing other things for the time being.
I hope those who have had other problems are doing better as well. There seems to be a lot going on with several of us.
Vitamin D. Magnesium Malate. My favorite 2 tools. I do think both are quite important for all FMers. I know that they seem to be for me. Low Vitamin D can cause me additional pain....as I can feel it in my bones.
Not much going on here. I do hope today will be better than yesterday.
Have a great Sunday and try to stay cool, if you can.
Hello Sarah. MiMi in NC. Yes, it seems that some doctors have *issues* with trying to find the *root of our problem*....actually I am not so sure that anyone can figure it out. I do know that it does take time and effort to get our Vitamin D level back to within the *normal level*....but I am not so sure that even when it gets there that it stays. 17 is still way too low to even be close to normal. I have to wonder IF our fatigue has anything to do with the Vitamin D level as well.
I have read that lots of health issues can actually cause *fatigue*.....I also know that my doctor told me that there is nothing that will help this as well. I do know that since the fatigue took over that I have not found anything which has made a BIG difference. But I am still trying to find something that will. I am indeed thankful that every day is not the same - I do have some days which are better than others - which I am so very thankful for.....but I can not figure out what causes the difference.
I hope your new doctors work out for you and that they can pin point your health problem to improve how you feel.
Morning FMily. MiMi in NC and it is going to be a better day around high 80's....it is time for a change of temps. We have had enough high temps for a while. I am looking forward to cooler days. I was shocked at my electric bill as well....but I did stay cooler than I could have been. So I guess it is a wash.
Here is hoping each of you had a good restful and peaceful night and I hope today will be a good day for us all, with little to no pain. I hope you have the energy to do whatever needs to be done today. I do understand how hard this can be....living with the chronic fatigue is not any fun at all. Sometimes I start something and have to put it down since I can not continue what I had planned to do. So much left undone.
I would love to go swimming but just watching others swim tires me out. So is this a mind over matter situation? I have no idea. I wish I could control this though IF indeed this is what it is. There are days when I truly feel as though my mind and my body does not connect at all.
Yesterday was a trying day. I kept my GS for a while. It is funny just how fast little ones can grow up and he is certainly one of these. I can not believe just how much energy he has. He is still not saying much but he knows how to get a person's attention. It is funny how little ones seem to know just what they want to do or not. We did look at some books together and he said some words that I did not know he could. I hope he will start to talk more. I remember when his dad was this age and the doctor told me that I needed to make him talk by not doing what he wanted ....but to tell him to talk to me. I guess it worked as he did learn. This little guy is just like his dad....and looks just like his aunt. (my DD)
Welcome to the new members who have joined our support group recently. I do hope any lurkers will also step up and let us hear from you as well.
We do know exactly how you feel. Most of us have been there done that. Things do get easier eventually. It is a process which does take time and effort. So learn all you can about what others have found that has made a difference. Eventually you will find the *just right combination of tools and tips* that will work. This can be a slow process so hang in there and give it time to work.
Vitamin D. Magnesium Malate. My favorite tools. It sure works for me....along with using a heating pad and pacing and drinking plenty of water with fresh lemon juice.
Hello Lisa, not so sure either that age is the reason that causes this illness to get worse. I do think there are multiple factors in how we feel. Back when I first got sick, I had multiple health issues going on although my doctor did NOT know this. I did improve though once we got to the root of all the problems that I had. I can tell you this that I feel better than I did back then but I still have more bad days than good. I can also say this that I have learned that I must use my *toolbox* when I do not feel as good as I would like to.....just to improve the way I feel. I also can say that what I do sometimes helps and at other times does not. I have no idea why. But it is what it is and I take it one day at a time and do the best that I can. I think this is all we can do.
I also think that most doctors do NOT have any idea how to help us. It is a guessing game for them too.
I do hope you will find a good combination of tools that will help you cope better too.
TGIF*****and the end of another month rolling by. Can you believe that August is just around the corner now? Vacation time has sure passed by quickly this year. I guess perhaps this is due to our spring season being so very short. Or maybe it is just that I am getting older.
I do hope each of you had a good peaceful and restful night. It seems though that no one is safe anywhere these days. Strange things are going on everywhere. Don't understand a lot of this any more. It is what it is. People should be able to feel safe in this country....but it seems this is not the case any longer.
Last night we took our families out to celebrate my DH's birthday. He celebrated another milestone and is getting closer to retirement age now. Actually I am glad and will be ok when he is ready to hang it up. He works really long hours and has to get on the interstate every week day.....so I am looking forward to him not having to work. I am not sure how either of us will cope yet, but I am sure we will figure something out. He sometimes says he has to go back to work so he can rest. I don't know if he is joking or actually serious.
Stores are getting ready for the back to school rush. I finally was able to pick up the *school tools needed sheet* that they provide for parents/grandparents to know what the children need when they return. I have a lot of the things already....so this will not be a hassle for me this year. I try to help my children out in providing supplies for the grands. Things are so darn expensive these days. Just trying to buy food and clothes for them is expensive.
Welcome to the new members who have joined our support group. I am sure that each of you will soon find the *just right combination of whatever it might take that will help you cope better. No.....this does not mean that you will be completely pain free....BUT....IF indeed you find something that does allow this, please share it with the rest of us, FMers....so we can try it as well.
New members will find all sorts of good *tools and tips* here and a lot of support as well from others who know exactly what you are facing every day.
Vitamin D. Magnesium Malate. Vitamins and supplements can be a good thing.....I know they certainly are for me. Be sure and speak to your doctor about getting your Vitamin D level checked. Low Vitamin D can cause some people to have additional pain and it can also affect other illnesses as well.
I have to go now....as I am keeping my GS this morning. Will try to check in later.
Have a great Friday and remember to pace. (another helpful thing to try) Stay cool too. Drink plenty of water as well.
Hello rockstar and welcome....MiMi in NC. I am one of the FMers here who has had major problems with hands and feet too. I ended up having multiple surgeries on my hands/wrists/elbow too. Carpal tunnel problems which seem to be never ending.....that is until I fell outside twice and both one wrist and then the other one as well. Once I had surgery on the wrists, my problems got better. I broke both about the same according to the surgeon who repaired them. He had to repair them with plates and pins. After I recovered my pain got better. Every now and then I still have some pains, especially when it is damp and cool/cold. I still, on occasion, have to wear my wrist and elbow braces.
I also have foot problems too. I have Morton's toe on both feet and just recently have had major pain spells with them. Not sure exactly what is going on with them.
I know that when I first got sick many years ago....both feet felt like I was walking on pins and needles. That part is better and I do think that vitamins and supplements have helped them. I take Vitamin D and Magnesium Malate and I also take a joint supplement as well. I have had 4 right knee surgeries. (due to an accident back in the early 80's)
You do not say what you have tried or have found that has helped you. I do hope you will check out all of the info here. I am sure that you will find lots of *tools and tips* that just might make a difference in the way you feel.
Be sure and ask your doctor to check your Vitamin D level, if you have not gotten this done yet. Low Vitamin D can cause some people to have additional pain and it can also affect other illnesses as well.
This group is a good support group and we all understand exactly what you are facing every day.
Have you tried soaking your hands in Epsom salts or hot wax? These are both good tools to use. You can purchase a hot wax bowl and use it often. (I had this for therapy in the past and now I have my own bowl to use - walmart use to offer them)
Happy Thursday FMily. MiMi in NC. Another hot day, but not quite as hot as it has been. Showers are expected off and on today so I am hoping this will help cool the day down a bite. Sometimes though this just makes it worse.
I do hope each of you had a good peaceful and restful night and I hope today will be a good day for us all with little to no pain.
I am having elbow issues again. Don't know what I did to cause this but it has bothered me some. Not a good thing to deal with at all.
So much going on everywhere or so it seems. Perhaps it is just that we have so much now at our fingertips that it seems to be a lot. More bad than good which is not what anyone needs these days. I am dreading the political part of this as well. It will soon be non stop. I can only hope that more people will take an interest in voting. It seems that the majority of people just don't get out and take a stand on who they want to represent them. I always say that if you don't vote, the don't complain about anything.
OK....schools are getting into gear to start back soon. Lots of talk on where money will be found to run them. Not a good issue at all to be discussed. So much going on with the costs of things these days. It seems that lots of places just don't have things in order. I have to laugh as one little city I am close to has a big shortfall for money and yet they are talking about purchasing millions of dollars for *drones*. I guess the thinking is not what it needs to be these days.
My GD decided she needed to leave camp. She made the remark that she was not staying for 2 weeks and she decided that she had a *cough* and needed to leave. Children are smarter than what some people think. Sometimes when they make up their minds to do something there is no way to stop them. I have to chuckle. This was indeed an expensive life learned lesson.
Welcome to the new members who have joined our support group. I am sure that each of you will find lots of good *tools and tips* here. We do have a good support group with lots of good people on board. People who are willing to share what they have found that has made a difference for them. Dealing with the wrath of the dragon, aka FM, is not easy. It does take time and effort to find something that will work though....so you should keep on keeping on until you have figured out what your body needs that will make a difference.
Vitamin D. Magnesium. I do suggest that you do your own research and also speak to your doctor about whatever you decide to try. Some doctors are ok with vitamins and supplements and others might not be. At least ask for your Vitamin D level to be checked....hopefully this is proof that you are indeed concerned about things will need to be addressed, especially if yours is low. It seems to be an issue for many people these days.
Remember to pace today and try to stay cool. Drink plenty of water with lemon.
One more thing Nancy. I saw that your post decided to show up multiple times.....You can report the additional posts and just ask (in the comment section) that they need to be deleted....as they are duplicates.
Sometimes posts will disappear or it will take time for several of them to show up. I think sometimes perhaps people hit the submit button too many times which causes this as well.
Hello Nancy and welcome/. Don't think I have *talked* to you yet. MiMi in NC. I hope that your doctor has checked your Vitamin D level. Low Vitamin D seem to be a big problem for those of us who suffer from chronic illnesses. Low Vitamin D can cause some people to have additional pain and it can also affect other illnesses as well. I do encourage all new members to do their own research....so they can actually see for themselves just how important Vitamin D is. Sorry that you are dealing with so much. It stinks, don't it? It seems that a lot of people end of with meeting the wrath of the dragon, aka FM, after some sort of tragic incident. I also think we all go through the *stages* of trying to deal with this illness.
It is definitely good to learn how to pace at whatever you have to do. Sometimes though even after years of trying to do this I forget.....especially if I am trying to complete some sort of *project* that I really need to finish.
Sleep is indeed important.....actually the good stage is really important and I think some of us just do not get to this stage. I don't think I do hardly ever. I have to sleep in a recliner and have done so since 2005. (not by choice though).
I, too, have had several surgeries and lots of other stresses which has not helped me at all. There are some things though we are not able to *control* no matter what. It is indeed good though if we can also find the good in whatever is going on and keep a positive attitude, no matter what. (this is not always easy to do either though - I know it has not been for me)
I am one of the FMers here who has learned how to *control my FM pain* by taking vitamins and supplements and using other tools and tips as well. Heating pad is my best friend - I use it daily - at least once, often more. I also try to keep a schedule of sorts....eating the same day, getting up and going to bed around the same time, taking my vitamins and supplements at the same time. Taking a hot shower at night using lavender bath salts might also help to relax the body so that we can sleep better.
I do hope you will check out the info here under *tips* and *resources*....be sure and read the *member toolbox* and *Dr. P's discussions too (he is no longer here but he left some really good info for all of us)
Giving up is never a choice for me. I try to remember on bad days that this too will pass. I have 4 wonderful reasons to keep on keeping on....(3 little grandsons and 1 grand daughter - who are the apples of my life)
