It's sunny and cool here, and there are "guys" at my house moving along with the kitchen project. I called ServiceMaster to get my appliances back, and I'm waiting to hear from them. I know I crabbed about it all summer, but it is SO worth the wait! The cabinets are in place (except the two that came in the wrong size), and the floor is going down now. When they made the whole thing lever, it ended up a half-step lower than the rest of the house! They're do something pretty, I've been told. More electrical work today, so there is no power. I'm at the local DD, having breakfast, checking email, checking in here, then going to see Mom.
Wow, that was a long thought!
Mimi, I know exactly what you're talking about. We try not to allow ourselves get sucked into the marketing stuff, as it's too soon out of style. But they want what they want, and sometimes you can't get away from it.
Mel, I stretch before I get out of bed in the morning. I start bringing my knees up to my chest and holding them for a count to 30. This will get you started!
GG, I do yoga once a week, and it has been good to me. Sometimes you have to get up out of the chair, and I do that too!
Wishing everyone the best day - and the best weekend - YOU can possibly have! LouView Thread
Contact your local hospital and tell them your dx. They should be able to get you a good doc. Generically, we see neurologists, rheumatologists, and pain specialists. Some of us find relief with natural, homeopathic supplements; others need straight pain meds.
Cool here in southeastern New England, 58 and cloudy. The warmth of W NY sounds good, could you send some my way?
The kitchen progresses. Most of the cabinets are in, I have to call this afternoon and schedule the return of my appliances. The electrical panel is being replaced today, tomorrow the outside electrical will be updated. I'm out of the house for a few hours, traveling from wi-fi hub to wi-fi hub with my laptop. The cabinets look like a dream.
The computer is still being diagnosed, but I know it's the graphics card, and Apple will replace it free. They've known about the issue for awhile, and I;'m disappointed that they didn't tell those of us who have defects. Their deadline (for me) is next month, so I'm happy it died before their 3-year deadline.
Work is keeping me busy, too. Two days a week is better than nothing.
I wish you all the best day you can possibly have! LouView Thread
Hi Again: I just wanted to start a conversation, not propose that anyone should be forced to do anything he/she didn't want to do.
Phil Mickelson came out as the spokesman for Psoriatic Arthritis. Any of us with psoriasis is a candidate for PA. I don't think he decided to speak for the med he takes. He was definitely asked, that's what advertisers do.
Each of us has a "different" kind of FM, mine isn't the same as yours. Freeman is much older and has a lot of $$, and can afford whatever treatment and meds his docs order. Oh that we were all so lucky!
I've realized that mine is different than when I first had symptoms, and we all need to keep that in mind. LouView Thread
My FM can also be traced to a car accident, not even close to what you went through. I think we need someone 'famous' for awareness' sake. We're viewed as a bunch of complainers looking for drugs, or we're lazy and want to get out of working.
Had you ever heard of psoriatic arthritis before Phil Mickelson? Now he's the face of PA, and it's helping the sufferers, I'm sure. LouView Thread
It's nice her in southeastern Mass, low 60s and sunny. I didn't even bother to grab a sweater, and I was warm enough.
This is the third week of the Kitchen Rebuild. They filled the hole with 'flowable fill'; its really thick and they can control where it flows. The next day the concrete was poured - the crawl space won't bother anyone ever again! The electrical and plumbing have been roughed in, the interior wall has bee studded, and there's a crew here now putting up wallboard. Cabinets arrive tomorrow, and that will make it all real!
I've been working since the rebuild started, and that happened five years ago when we had to outside of the house done. DH says that if that's what it takes to get work for me, the dining room and lab should be next. LOL
My main computer (iMac) pooped out last Wed. It's been at the tech place since then, and I hope to get good news today. I'm not sure I can afford to replace it, and that's feeling stressful, but what can I do? Nothing, so I'm trying to roll with it. It has given me the opportunity to bond with my laptop.
I passed the 55 year mark last week. I never imagined that at this age I'd have FM, but I'm glad to have found this forum and all of you, my FMily. Thanks for being here!
I wish you all the best day you can possibly have! LouView Thread
Cool and sunny here, and enjoying it. It's still summer, and I'm not taking coats out just yet. As long as it gets warm by mid-morning, I'll feel good.
My main computer died this morning. I tried rebooting it, but I had to load it on my 2-wheeler and bring it to the doc for diagnosis. They first ran some diagnostics, but everything tested fine, so it had to go into the back room. I'm hoping it's something silly and simple (aka CHEAP!). and fearing the worst. Now I'm working on the laptop I bought last winter. It's good to see what this thing can do!
Mimi, I wish you a better washer, one that lasts a long, long time. Such a pain when they don't behave.
Mary: Both of our dogs have hated t-storms, fireworks, etc. Their little canine brains can't process the noise. Sometimes I can't either.
Linda, I hope your doc gets to the bottom of your sinus problem. There's little worse than being treated for the wrong thing.
laurab, enjoy the weather before it turns. I just heard its going to be 37 near here tomorrow morning!
mel, feel free to send some of that summer warmth to New England, We only had THREE days over 90 in July and August. Global warming - really?????
I wish you all the best day you can possibly have, LouView Thread
I'm glad to have the time to check in this morning. It's cold and grey here, but SO much is happening!
The kitchen is starting to look like a room. The sills have been replaced, and passed inspection yesterday. The siding is going back onto the house right now, and they're spraying insulation between the studs. Wallboard and plaster will be done tomorrow, along with rough plumbing and electrical. Thurs and Fri the gravel will be delivered and tamped down, then comes the concrete.
This is becoming real.
I've also been working, which means missing some of the kitchen excitement, but I'll be able to pay bills. I've been knitting a lot, and I'm almost ready to stock my Etsy store. I guess my friend was right, saying I'm a "Renaissance woman"!
With everything going on, I've been ignoring the pain. I'm waiting for the Tramadol to kick in. My BFF is on her way here for a gab-fest and lunch. She's also not working, was let go from her teaching job so they could hire someone younger and therefore pay that person less. No union, and my BFF is still looking for a job. Something will come along, I'm sure, but when???
Oh, yeah, I joined the double-nickel club today. )
I wish each of you the best day YOU can possibly have! LouView Thread
Sorry for the too-late check in. Cool here today, chilly now. We'll be rained on tomorrow.
Work is going well. My client has a lot going on, and I'm glad for the work. IDK how long it will last, and I can;t wait for the checks. LOL
Work started on the kitchen Monday. The building inspector came by and demanded a few more things be "fixed". He's not polite, and has a bad rep in town, but he's the man - and he knows it. So our sills are being replaced, rebar is being used, and we'll be about a week behind schedule. At some point a cement truck will come, and I'll be here to see it. We have a new next door neighbor family, and I think their three-year old will be excited to see it!
Other than that, nothing much. I haven't had the time for taking pics of my knitting for my Etsy store. Maybe Sunday, it should be warm and sunny, and I want to take pics outdoors. Things look SO great in natural light.
I wish you all the best weekend you can possibly have! LouView Thread
